Boone Pickens’ Leadership Plan

"Why don't you step and take someone who will replace you," a journalist questioned
Boone Pickens 16 years ago. Pickens was 68 years old at the time when the writer
asked him that bizarre question. Pickens then grasped why the writer posed that
question: there is a limited potential for him at that age, but Pickens disagrees. "As long
as you want to make it, it's as big as you want to make it," Pickens remarked. If you
want to get to the feeding through, all you have to do is get up there and go after it."I
think Pickens wants to point out that, age is not a hindrance as an entrepreneur and
also as well as a leader. If you set a goal for yourself, you will work hard to achieve it
and overcome any obstacles that may arise.

Pickens announced the Pickens Leadership Plan, which is made up of ten key
principles. This collection of guidelines will help us figure out how to improve our
effectiveness and efficiency. Pickens' first rule is to have a strong work ethic, which I
agree with because you are a role model for your people as a leader, so it should begin
with you. The second rule that he follows is to plan ahead of time. If you have a plan, he
claims, you will be haunted by something, indicating that you will work hard to achieve
your goals. Stick to your plan and start looking for major things; his third
recommendation is to stay focused and avoid distractions. Pickens shared his fourth
rule, which is that before asking advice, you should first check whether the person is
knowledgeable to prevent wasting your time. We should spend our time carefully and be
prepared at all times because we have no control over it. Because time is a gift to us,
we must learn to make the most use of it. Pickens' fifth guideline states that you should
make your point in three minutes or less. His sixth rule is to not be frightened to make a
decision; once the presentation is finished, it is set on the table, and you must make a
decision for those who prepared for you. As a leader, you should always be looking for
methods to improve things, because making adjustments will result in a better outcome
than the current situation. His eighth concept, which is to embrace change, was
underlined. According to Pickens, the eighth rule is to avoid cheating because cheating
provides no satisfaction. His eighth bit of advise is to wait and not rush things, because
impatience might lead to cheating. If you don't put pressure on yourself to do activities
quickly, you'll be able to accomplish more, which will help you attain a satisfactory
result. Finally, according to his eleventh guideline, you should always donate your time
and money to charity. "Don't forget to glance back," his granny advised.
