Introduction Estimated Time: 10minutes

Upon entering the class room after special area there will be a chart on the board with word
parts such as the sounds “Ch”, “St”, and “Th”. Students will be given an assigned word. With
this student are to place these words in the corresponding area and return to their seats.
After all the words are placed we will go over each word and determine if they are in the
right place or not.

In this small group the
students will be having a
competition. They will be
given a spinner, whiteboard
and a marker. Each section of
the spinner has a word part
on it such “Ph”. I will spin
said spinner and the students
are to have a little race to see
which of them can come up
with a word that matches
that word part. If correct
student (A) can get a point.
Or challenge a student to
come up with a word using
that word part. If the answer
is correct student (b) takes all
the points. But is the word is
wrong student (A) keeps the
points.

minutes
This section will be working
on a phonics train. Together
students will take turns
matching the word parts with
the words. If done correctly
the train will move. But if
done incorrectly the train will
stay at a standstill.

Students will sit at their
designated seat with their
laptops. On the classroom
page they will be given a
written(typed) assignment.
For this assignment the
students will be given a list of
word parts. They are to
create a paragraph about
anything they can think of
but it must include 5 of those
word parts on the list.
Students will be directed to clean up and put any loose object away. As they are being
dismissed or called to leave I will give a student a word to were their response will have to be
to identify which word part is in that word.
