Writing assignment 4: Thesis

In the company, employees carry one of the most important roles, and that is to do
the operational work for the company, thus the company can do the production of
products and services offered to customers. However, after a recruitment process
(which to match the employees’ qualifications to the role in the company), the
Company still has to do training and maintaining of the ‘qualification’ of the
employees. The main goal is to invest in training that benefits both the employee's career and the
company. (Charles J, et al., 2005) To conduct training and maintenance, there are two
factors that a company should look up to, “Ability” and “Motivation”.

Ability represents the skills of the employees, this is needed in the working process
to do certain tasks and workloads. To know and to measure the ability of the
employees, a company could do tests, assign the employees with a certain task
within the supervision of reporting manager, and use a performance indicator to the
employee. The general HR methodologies currently used for performance evaluation, job evaluation
methods, and compensation practices provide basic input. (Charles J, et al., 2005) This will show the
ability that the employee has.

Not only the ability that employees needed to do the workload effectively but also
motivation. The terms "motivation" and "motivation mechanism" are the basis for
characterizing human behavior and the driving force behind it. ( Kuznetsova, N. V, et al.,
2017) Motivation can be measured based on the report of attendance, time of
reporting to the supervision, time log for doing the workloads, the extra time is
taken.
The company might put a measurement scale and minimum score to make it easier
in the scoring method, using a rating scale vertically and horizontally for each
employee. Thus, the supervision will speak to each of the employees to address the
problem, either with the ability or motivation problems. After giving the maintenance
or the training needed, after a certain period, the ability and motivation test still
needed to be conducted and then create a cycle. The evaluation period is usually annual.
Some organizations use the hire date of an employee as the start / end date of the annual evaluation
period. (Martin & Bartol,1998)

In conclusion, as stated before, the cycle of testing, training, and maintaining should
be conducted in each layer of organization or company to make sure that the
company working culture and the employees are working in the same direction. That
the company provides employment, and the employees serve the good work and
performance. “
