Problem No. 1:

An ammonia ice plant operates on simple saturation cycle at the following temperatures:
condensing temp= 33 deg C and evaporating temp= - 8 deg C. It produces 12 tons of ice
per day at – 4 deg C from water at 26 deg C. Determine:
a) capacity of refrigeration plant in TOR
b) isentropic discharge temp
c) compressor bore and stroke if its volumetric efficiency is 65%. The compressor
rpm= 1400 and stroke/bore ratio= 1.2
d) HP of compressor per TOR if its adiabatic efficiency is 85% and mechanical
efficiency is 95%.
e) Theoretical and actual COP.
