PHYSICAL CONDITIONS OF THE CLASSROOM

How is the classroom arranged? Describe classroom seating arrangements and
physical space.

The classroom is equipped with basic elements such as the whiteboard and the tables for
the students. There is no projector, no desk for the teacher, only a small table due which the
teacher uses like a desk; also the classroom didn't have any element that characterizes the
English classrooms.

The seating position used with the students is the horseshoe, which provides good
visualization and interaction with the teacher and other students. This arrangement allows
the teacher to direct attention in any direction, also allowing students to better understand
the explanation that is being given.

Is there enough light? Is the classroom ventilated?

The classroom has sufficient lighting since it has great advantages that allow natural light to
enter during the day and at night the lamps adequately illuminate the classroom. These
windows also provide adequate ventilation to the classroom; in addition, there is a fan
inside the classroom.

Are there enough visual aids? Where are they located?

There aren't visual aids in the classroom, there are only a few texts and images on the walls
and door; the only visual aid available is the flashcards shown by the teacher and the
written on the board. To be a classroom where is teaching the English language lacks visual
aids for students, even though when looking at the level or age of the students, the visual
aid is unnecessary since they must have a level higher than the basic level.

Does the teacher use peripheral learning?

No, he doesn't make use of the peripheral learning method. The teacher uses only
flashcards, the whiteboard, and physical expression to teach at students in the classroom.

CLASSROOM ATMOSPHERE
What is the teacher’s attitude toward the group?

The teacher keeps an interactive attitude toward the students from the beginning of the
class; he interactive with each student, and repeats every new word with enthusiasm with
the principal idea that students pay attention to the class.

Does the teacher build rapport with students?

Yes, the teacher starts every class with enthusiastic and keep a rapport with all student in
the classroom because he approaches at the different groups and help them in the practice
time and correct them when it is necessary.

How does the teacher motivate students? Provide examples

He uses corporal communication to earn the attention of the students; he shows flashcards
with the necessary information with the intention of the same students can build their
knowledge. Also, the teacher corrects the error uses the correct method without causing
discomfort among students.

For example, the teacher shows a draw, with this, they ask students what is the relation
between the draw and the incomplete sentence on the whiteboard; the students beginning to
give answers to the teacher with the idea to complete the sentences and give meaning to the
draw previously showed by the teacher.

How is the teacher-student interaction?

It is very close, the teacher interacts with students as he was another student, and students
look at the teacher with attention because they feel a close friendship toward him.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

How does the teacher manage discipline?

The manner how the teacher manages discipline in the classroom is very interesting;
because the students knew the discipline rules with previous, the teacher at the beginning of
the course maybe he provided the students a syllabus with the classroom rules, the teacher
rules, and also the student's right in the classroom. Also, I think that the good attitude of the
teacher in the classroom helps him with the student's discipline.

How does the teacher reinforce appropriate behavior/responses in class?

The teacher uses motivation words when students give correct answers; with this, he won
the attention and the reliability of students. Also, he uses the same method when students
give a wrong answer; finds a way how to correct them, and keeps their attention in the
class.

How does the teacher respond to inappropriate behavior?

The teacher closes at the students and uses more a physical language to correct them or give
them to understand the incorrect behavior that they have in the classroom. I think that the
teacher makes this because is more polite to show to students through signals or physical
language when they are making something wrong that saying to them something that all
students can hear it.
