COVID-19 PROTOCOL FOR THIS EVENT

The graduation ceremony will be held outside of the National State of Disaster, but all applicable Covid-19
protocol must still be adhered to during the ceremony. These are as follows:

 Masks must be always worn whilst indoors, including the foyer areas
 Graduands may remove their masks only after their names have been read and while they walk
across the stage. As soon your award has been announced, your mask must be worn again. This
will enable the photographer to capture the actual graduation process.
 Only the persons who are addressing the congregation, may remove their mask whilst speaking
 Maintaining of appropriate social distance
 Sanitise regularly
DRESS CODE

In keeping with the dignity of the occasion, candidates are required to be formally, decently and
appropriately dressed, with no low cut revealing dresses.

ACADEMIC ATTIRE

All candidates MUST wear academic attire approved for CPUT. This will be made available to you
free of charge at the venue the day of the ceremony. You are required to provide proof of identity
when you collect the academic attire. NB: Academic attire must be returned after the completion
of a graduation ceremony. Please collect your academic attire 1 hour before the scheduled time at
the Education Hall, Bellville Campus.

GRADUATION PHOTOGRAPHY

An official photographer, Gordon Harris Photographic, has been appointed by the University to render
photographic services to all candidates upon receipt of their awards. The following link https://pre-
orders.ghphoto.co.za/ must be completed by all students who are interested in graduation photography.
All processes are completed online and information will be shared by the service provider.

NB: Taking of photographs during the graduation ceremony, other than the official photographer or for
institutional marketing purposes, is not allowed.

GUESTS AND PROCEDURE

Each candidate is allowed two (2) guests for the ceremony.

Regrettably no children under the age of 13 will be allowed.

You must arrange your own accommodation and transport. Parking facilities are made available on
campus. Guests will be directed by signage and security personnel.

All candidates and guests must be seated 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony.
Please note: Doors will close 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony and no late comers
will be allowed into the venue.

AWARDING OF CERTIFICATES IN ABSENTIA

If you are unable to attend the scheduled graduation ceremony, your certificate will be conferred in
absentia. Candidates who are unable to attend the ceremony should note that their certificates will be
available at the Assessment and Graduation Centre on the First Floor, Administration Building, Bellville
Campus as from 25th May 2022.

If you delegate someone to collect your certificate, that person (with proof of identity) needs a letter of
consent signed by you.

OUTSTANDING TUITION FEES

Candidates with outstanding tuition fees, due to the university, will be allowed to participate in the
graduation ceremony and will receive their certificates. Please note that certificates for international
students will be withheld until their accounts have been settled in full. National students will have to make
payment arrangements with the Student Debtors Department.
