I joined VCH after seeing how it brought

Volunteer of the together the medical field as well as the

Vietnamese community, especially that of
Week: Tracey Huynh the OC area, which is where I grew up. It
seemed like a great opportunity to give back
and practice my Vietnamese, where the
various events also appeared to be both fun
and fulfilling. With the Shower of Hope
event, I had a great time collaborating with
the other volunteers in distributing various
resources for those in need, including socks,
toothpaste, and snacks. Even though it was
an extremely hot day, it was rewarding to
see those who received showers come out
refreshed and thankful! Thank you staff for
all your hard work and these great
opportunities!

I joined VCH for two main reasons, to become

Volunteer of the reconnected with my Vietnamese heritage

and to give back to the Viet community of
Quarter: Justin Dao Orange County. As I am from Portland,
Oregon, the Viet community back home isn’t
as large or expansive as the one in OC,
meaning it was more difficult to work with
and give back to my roots. As a Navigator
since fall and joining Patient Outreach this
past quarter, I have been able to maximize
my personal interactions with patients and
help them to find their way throughout the
Health Fair. This year I’ve developed many
fond memories of the clubs through the
fairs, sites, meetings, and socials and I look
forward to working with everyone next year
as well.
