LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 10

(4th Quarter)

I. Objectives
At the end of the period, the students should be able to:
a. interpret the computed measures of position of an ungrouped data;
b. interpret the computed percentile rank of a specific value in an ungrouped set of data; and
c. participate in class activities and listen to others with respect.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Interpreting Measures of Position
Reference: Math Quarter 4 Week 3 Capslet
Materials: laptop, projector, markers
MELCS Code: M10SP – IVc–1
Learning Approach: 4 A’s
Teaching Strategies: PowerPoint Presentation, Explicit teaching

III. Procedure
A. Preparation

a. Prepare the classroom

b. Check the attendance
c. Review
Review lesson on calculating measures of position of ungrouped and grouped data.

B. Lesson Proper

Illustrative Examples:
1. A group of students obtained the following scores in their latest 30-item quiz in Math 10, find the
lower quartile and upper quartile, and interpret the results.
2. Mrs. Magalang gave a test to her students in Statistics. The students finished their test in 35 minutes.
This time is the 2.5th decile of the allotted time. What does it mean?

20, 22, 22, 22, 15, 26, 22, 22, 24, 24. Compute and interpret the percentile rank of Ralph who got a
score of 25.

c. Analysis
What is the computed percentile rank of Ralph and what does it mean?

d. Abstraction (I Do)

How do we interpret computed lower and upper quartiles of an ungrouped data?

How do we interpret computed deciles of an ungrouped data?
How do we interpret computed percentiles of an ungrouped data?
How do we interpret computed percentile rank in an ungrouped set of data?
What is the importance of interpreting measures of position?

e. Application (We Do)

Directions. Study the following situations. Then, answer the questions that follow.

1. The class of 10-Mathpagmahal is composed of 20 female students. Josefa is said to be the 8 th
