Semi - Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 11 General Mathematics
I. Objectives:
A. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of functions.

B. Performance Standards:
The learner is able to accurately construct mathematical models to represent real-life situations
using functions.
C. Learning Competency: verify if a given relation, is a function.
D. Code: M8AL-IIc-2
E. Specific Objectives:

At the end of the discussion, students are expected to:

1. Define an equation
2. Illustrate basic types of functions
3. evaluate if a given equation represents a function.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

 Topic: Functions and Relations
 Learner’s Guide/Module: General Mathematics (Learner’s Material Pp. 1 – 13)
 Other Reources: Gen-Math11_Q1_Mod1_functions_with-08082020.pdf

 Instructional Materials: Chalkboard, chalk or PPT, TV
 Values Integration: Honesty, Loyalty, Appreciation

IV. Procedures:
I. Daily Routine
- Prayer
- Greeting/s
- Attendance
- Classroom management

II. Motivation/Review
- The teacher will ask questions about last meeting’s lesson.
1. How do we determine or evaluate if a graph represents function?
2. How do we define vertical line test?
III. Lesson Proper
“The teacher will present the title of the lesson and objectives”
“The teacher will give a vocabulary lesson before starting the discussion.”
“The teacher will play a video that discusses the lesson”
“The teacher will facilitate the lesson”

IV. Application
The teacher will ask volunteers to do board-work or recite.

V. Generalization
The teacher will ask questions to the students about what they have learned in the
discussion.
Example Questions:
1. How do we evaluate if the given equation represent function?
2. How do you define an equation of function?
3. Give one basic types of function.
“The teacher will probe questions”

IV. Assessment
Direction: Answer the following questions carefully. Choose only the LETTER of the correct
answer.

b. 4 x2 + 4 y 2 +4=0
c. x 2+ y 4=16
d. x y 6 +1=0

3. The following equations represent a function, which is NOT?

a. 4 x2 + 4 x+ 4=0
b. 4 x2 + 4 y 2 +4=0
c. x 2+ y 3=16
d. x + y=4

4. The following are some basic types of function, which is NOT?

a. f ( x )=4
b. f ( x )=x 2
c. f ( x )=2 x 2+ x+1
d. f ( x )=4 x 2+ 4 y 2

5. f ( x )=x 2 + y 2 is one of the basic types of function.
