Semi - Detailed Lesson Plan for Grade 11 General Mathematics
I. Objectives:
A. Content Standards:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of functions.

B. Performance Standards:
The learner is able to accurately construct mathematical models to represent real-life situations
using functions.
C. Learning Competency: verify if a given relation, is a function.
D. Code: M8AL-IIc-2
E. Specific Objectives

At the end of the discussion, students are expected to:

1. define vertical line test

2. evaluate if a given graph represent a function.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

 Topic: Functions and Relations
 Learner’s Guide/Module: General Mathematics (Learner’s Material Pp. 1 – 13)
 Other Reources: Gen-Math11_Q1_Mod1_functions_with-08082020.pdf
 Instructional Materials: Chalkboard, chalk or PPT
 Values Integration: Honesty, Loyalty, Appreciation

IV. Procedures:
A. Daily Routine
- Opening Prayer
- Greeting/s
- Classroom Management
- Attendance
- Closing Prayer

B. Motivation/Review

- The teacher will ask questions as a short review about evaluating a given mapping diagram
as function or not.

C. Lesson Proper

“The teacher will post and notify the objectives for today’s lesson”
“The teacher will only facilitate the discussion”
D. Application
The teacher will ask volunteers to do board-work or recite.

E. Generalization
The teacher will ask questions to the students about what they have learned in the
discussion.
Example Questions:
• How do you define a vertical line test?
• How do we know if a given graph represents function?

“The teacher will probe questions”

IV. Assessment
Direction: Answer the following questions carefully.

A. TRUE OR FALSE: If the statement below is false, write the correct word to make it true.
“The horizontal line test helps to find if a given curve represents a function or not. If the vertical
line cuts the graph of the equation at only one point, then it is a function, and if it cuts the graph of the
function at more than one points, then it does not represent a function.”
A. TRUE B. FALSE

B. DRAW THE GRAPH FIRST THEN EVALUATE IT IF IT IS A FUNCTION OR NOT USING THE
VERTICAL LINE TEST. WRITE F if FUNCTION and N if NOT.

V. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITES:
Direction:
Search, take down notes and have an advance study about evaluating if the given EQUATIONS
and TABLE represent a function. Write at least 5 examples each. 10 pts.
