Morning Routines
Greetings Good morning everyone, how was your vacation? I’m
glad to see you all again.

Worship
Let us welcome the presence of the Lord through this
song.

(Let us pray)
Opening Prayer
“Heavenly Father, we come to You today asking for
Your guidance, wisdom and support as we learn
today. Help us to encourage in meaningful discussion
and give us the knowledge to retain what we are going
to learn. Fill us with Your grace and divine mercy as
we tackle our lesson for this day. Lord, continue to
remind us that everything we do and all that we need
to accomplish is for your Glory. Thank You Father, in
Jesus name, we pray. AMEN”

Let us take a screenshot. Everybody in 1,2, 3 smile.

Discussion

Today, we will discuss the Forces of Magnets.

So we are expected to learn the following.

Let us watch this video and be fascinated about the
role of soil in our life.

Soil is essential for life as they provide the medium

for plant growth, habitat for many insects and other
organisms.

Each component of the soil has functions that help

many organisms. These are
some of the functions of soil in the ecosystem.

Since the soil is composed of different materials,

minerals and compositions, it affects its formation,
colors, and textures too, depending on the location
where it is found. The soil can be found in colors like
yellow, red, and white but the most common colors
are brown, black, and gray.

A soil’s color is generally related to its physical and

chemical characteristics.
Soil’s rich in humus tend to be dark because
decomposed organic matter is black or brown. Soils
with high humus content are usually very fertile. Red
or yellow soils typically indicate the presence of iron.
These are the factors that help in the formation of soil.

Soil varies in terms of texture. This refers to what we

feel when we touch or hold the soil. Soil can be
classified as sand, loam, silt, and clay.

Watch this video to learn more about the types of soil.

Among the different types of soil, sandy soil has the

largest particles in it. It feels gritty and dry when
touched and this is due to the huge spaces present
between the particles and also it will not be able to
hold water. Sandy soil is made up of tiny particles that
have been weathered from rocks. It's also deficient in
nutrients and water retention, making it one of the
worst sorts of soil for farming.

When compared to sandy soil, silty soil will be

smaller in size and so it will be smoother and it
becomes soapy slick when moistened. Silty soil, when
rolled between fingers, leaves dirt on our skin. When
opposed to sand, silt has smaller particles. It also
contains rock and other mineral fragments. It also
holds water better than sand because of its fine
texture. It is also good for agriculture due to the
above-mentioned properties.

Even though this soil is fertile, it can't hold as many

nutrients but it can retain water for a longer period of
time. It is cold in nature because of its moisture-
retention quality and also it can get compacted easily.

When compared to the above-mentioned soils, clay

soil has the smallest particle composition and it has
fair water storage qualities. Only a little air can pass
through its spaces because of the tiny size of its
particles and their tendency to settle together. Plant
nutrients will be tightly held due to its slower draining
tendency and so this soil is rich in plant food for better
growth. clay has the smallest particles. There is
extremely little or no airspace since the particles are
so closely packed. As a result, water is efficiently
retained by this property. However, it becomes
difficult for moisture and air to permeate into it,
limiting plant growth.

Loam soil is said to be the ideal type of soil as the

gardens and gardeners just love it. The three materials
like silt, clay plus hummus, and sand are balanced
present in this soil. Due to its previous organic matter
content, it will have higher calcium and pH levels.

The color of this soil is dark and it is dry and crumbles

when touched. Between the soil particles, the air
moves freely down to the roots.

It has the ideal proportions of each type of soil and

hummus, both of which are required to supply
nutrients for growth. Because sand, silt, and clay
combine to offer beneficial properties, loam soils are
optimal for plant growth.

So this table summarizes the different types of soil

according to texture and composition and their other
characteristics.

Soil has different layers. Let us watch this video and

learn about the layers of the soil.

The topsoil is mostly made of minerals. It is good to

use in growing plants. The subsoil is also rich in
minerals from the topsoil that moved down. The
bedrock is made of rocks such as granite, basalt, and
limestone.
These layers differ in texture, structure, composition,
and color. The arrangement of soil layers will form
the soil profile.
The vertical cross section through different layers of
the soil is called the soil profile.
Most soils have three major horizons – A, B and C
horizon. Besides these three, there are also O,E and R
horizons.
The uppermost horizon is generally dark in color as it
is rich in humus and minerals. The humus makes the
soil fertile and provides nutrients to growing plants.
This layer is generally soft, porous and can retain
more water. It is calle the topsoil or the A-horizon.
The next layer has a lesser amount of humus but more
of minerals. This layer is generally harder and more
compact and is called the B horizon or the middle
layer.
The third layer is the C horizon, which is made up of
small lumps of rocks with cracks.
The bedrock is the layer of partially weathered
bedrock at the base of the soil profile.

How do we have a good heart, and become good soil?

By reading God’s Word (the bible), keeping His
Word, and obeying His Word. In Luke 8, Jesus is
explaining what kind of soil we need to become to
produce a good crop, much fruit. People with noble,
honest, and good intentions hear God’s Word cling to
it are good soil. The power, strength, compassion, and
love of God flow through those who hear His Word
retain it, with perseverance maintain it, and produce a
fruitful crop.
