JOB DESCRIPTION

CONTRACTUAL POSITION
JOB TITLE: CLERK OF WORKS
JOB SUMMARY:

To supervise and monitor construction projects in accordance with Contract documents and as directed
by the Supervisor. To record all ongoing activities daily in accordance with the set standards for work in
this category.

REPORTS TO:  Reports directly to the Project Manager, Engineering Unit, LSA but
job tasks being coordinated by the Engineering Technician.
 Required to liaise with LSA staff performing the Planning, Surveying,
Legal, Community and Social functions.
 Required to interface directly with the Contractor responsible for
construction and also with Design and Supervision Consultants,
where applicable.
 Required to interface directly with representatives of the Statutory
Authorities viz. WASA, Ministry of Works, Local Health Authority,
Fire Services and T&TEC.

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Reviews all Contract Documents including Drawing Specifications and Bills of Quantities for
accuracy.
 Monitors construction to ensure compliance with Contract, verifies and records work done on a
daily basis.
 Monitors, schedules and reports promptly on any deviation or difficulties encountered in adhering
to plans and schedules.
 Maintains correspondence, files, and site logs and gives instructions to Contractor on behalf of the
Project Manager.
 Assists in interpreting drawings and specifications, monitoring and participating in materials
sampling and testing and records changes in design procedures or site organization, as required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:


 Three (3) years’ experience at a supervisory level in land development and general building and
infrastructure works.
 Training to the level of Junior Builders Diploma or National Technician Certificate.
 Working knowledge of setting-out site works and materials testing.
