INTRODUCTION
Natural resources are materials that can be used to support life, and at the same time,
provide energy for living things to work as well as for machines to run or operate. These
resources are either supplied by the sun or by Earth’s natural processes. Indeed, they are very
much essential in human’s life, therefore, we should learn to protect them for the next
generations.
In this learning activity, you will gain awareness on how human activities destroy our
earth’s resources and you will learn how to protect and conserve these natural resources.
LEARNING COMPETENCY
Cite and explain ways of using Earth’s resources sustainably. (S7ES-IVc-4)
Specific Objectives
1. Identify the use of the different Earth’s resources.
2. Reflect on the effects of human activities on natural resources.
3. Create an illustration on how to protect and conserve our natural resources
ACTIVITIES
Learning Activity 1: Renewable or Non-Renewable?
Classify the above pictures into renewable and non-renewable energy resources. Write your answer
on the table below.
Complete the Concept Map by filling-up the blank boxes with the correct word/s from the list below.
• Animals • Coal
• Natural Gas • Non-Renewable Resources
• Oil • Plants
• Renewable Resources • Sunlight

fuels. Soil, coal, oil and natural gas are nonrenewable resources. Figure 2. How is water used to
generate electricity?
Environmental degradation is the
deterioration of the environment
through depletion of resources such as
air, water and soil; the destruction of
ecosystems; habitat destruction; the
extinction of wildlife; and pollution.
When natural habitats are destroyed
or natural resources are depleted, the
EVALUATE: PERFORMANCE TASK!
In the box below, illustrate through POSTER MAKING on “How can we help conserve
natural resources so that future generations can also enjoy them…”
You may use crayons/oil pastel/watercolor. Be creative. Refer to the Rubric below for scoring your
work.
Rubric for Scoring
Project/Outputs Levels Points Indicators
Exemplary 100 Work/project is exceptional and impressive. A distinctive sophisticated application of
knowledge and skill are evident.
Strong 95 Work/project exceeds the standard: thorough and effective application of knowledge and
skills are evident.
Proficient 90 Work/project meets the standard; acceptable and it displays the application of essential
knowledge and skills.
Developing 85 Work/ project does not yet meet the standard‟ show basic but inconsistent application of
knowledge and skills‟ work needs further development.
Emerging 80 Work/project shows partial application of knowledge and skills; lacks depth or incomplete
and needs considerable development errors and omissions are present.
