Lucrative Jobs and Postmodern Malaise.

Can Dropping Out of the Fast Lane Be

a Solution?

The reason why so many of us are at the end of our rope? We allowed work to be
what gave our lives meaning. Today, the modern world gives us many opportunities,
and unfortunately, money and success for many are higher than their own lives and
self-care.

Billionaire tech-industry titans brag about their hundred-hour work weeks. Americans
tend to work harder and spend less time on leisure. Children of rich parents are twice
as likely to have summer jobs as poor children. And many older American
professionals with large retirement savings continue to appear in the office. As you
can see, not all people work for money. They do their work for love, service, or to
contribute to the collective effort.

But what can such ambitions lead to? Worsening working conditions, including more
emotional intensity and less security, explain why burnout is so common in our
society. Burnout is characteristic of our age, because the gap between our common
ideals of work and the reality of our work is now larger than it was in the past. The
ideal that motivates us to work to the point of burnout is the promise that if you work
hard, you will live a good life. And it`s not just about life of material comfort, but
more about moral character and spiritual purpose.

Overtime seems like a simple solution to increasing productivity, and in the short-
term, it may get more work done. But eventually, overtime kills your business—its
productivity, its output, its moral, its profits, and more. As boundaries between home
and work blend, people don’t always know how to stop working. For some, the
thoughts and worries about work begin to interrupt their sleep. Burnout can take a
serious toll on your health, performance, career prospects, psychological well-being,
and relationships.

Therefore, it is better to always look for balance in everything. It is impossible to earn

all the money in the world, it is impossible to gain popularity from all people. That`s
why you should find this golden mean, where you will be comfortable, where you
can work for pleasure , and at the same time have time for yourself.
The Politics of Culture and Art, and Why It Matters in the Contemporary
World.

Today, many people may wonder why culture and art are important. What value does
it bring to the modern world?

If we talk about art, first of all one of the biggest benefits of art is its aesthetic value.
This means that art has a certain ability to elicit a sense of pleasure in the viewer.
Although, what is considered pleasing to the eye may vary depending on the viewer.
Given its aesthetic value, artwork can also be used to decorate many different places.
Even outdoor sculpture parks can contain art and make it easily accessible for anyone
to view, while it livens up the city landscape.

However, in addition to aesthetic value, art can draw public attention to important
issues. Art plays a great role in our life as long as it makes us think about significant
problems and things, happening around us. It touches very important problems of
mankind: love and hate, war and peace, guilt and repentance, talent.

If we talk about culture, I want to mention such a wonderful quote: “Culture is the
sum of all the forms of art, of love, and of thought, which, in the course of centuries,
have enabled man to be less enslaved.” - Andre Malraux

As we can see, culture includes art. Culture to some extent represents the nation, the
country to which it belongs. Culture is a reflection of a community or nation. This
makes culture a vital and important determining factor of how the community reacts,
responds, and grows. Culture plays a major role in the lives of everyone in the
society. Culture gives you a sense of belonging, especially when everyone speaks the
same language. Language evolves with the culture as a product of the way those
within the society communicate.

Culture is the invisible bond which ties people together. The art, literature, language,
and religion of a community represent its culture. Our cultural values and beliefs
manifest themselves through our lifestyle. Our moral values represent our culture.
Differences in cultures have led to diversity in the people from different parts of the
world.

To sum up, today, these two components are a very significant part of our lives, they
are part of the community. And for communities to develop and prosper, it is
necessary to enrich them. To some extent, they depend on each other. On the one
hand art brings peace and tranquility in its own way. And on the other hand culture is
the basic root of any community which gives them the ways of life.
