1. Briefly discuss the topic that was presented in the seminar.

The topic was about the evolution of electronic components. Terminologies were discussed in detail, as well as the
the important events in the development of electronic components. The components from past, present and future were
also compared during the seminar. Additionally, two soldering techniques were emphasized as well namely the wave
soldering and reflow soldering. In the last part of the seminar, the standards that are being followed in the engineering
industry were also talked through.

2. Based on the seminar, what are the current critical issues and their relevance to the engineering profession?

As mentioned at the seminar, one of the issues is the actual process of designing a PCB. Since technologies are
continuously developing and upgrading, PCB design becomes complex. Engineers who are in this field experience
challenges especially if they don’t have enough practice and right equipment to use. With this issue, the development of
technologies in our country will be hindered or slowed down, or even mistakes could occur.

3. Based on the seminar, what are the appropriate engineering solutions to address the effect of the current critical issues?

The important thing to consider to address this issue is to be knowledgeable enough of the engineering field you or
any individual choose. Being knowledgeable means being able to conduct complex operations and able to adjust in case
there might be problems along the way. The development of the country depends on the people living in it. Therefore, if we,
engineers, are able to educate ourselves in the standards and complexity of the engineering field we chose, then we are
able to address any issue that we might encounter.

4. Provide a conclusion/recommendation on the seminar.

The seminar went smoothly. I learned about the milestones of electronic components, the people behind it and how
these were able to help in the development of the technologies we have now.
