An interest in learning more and more about the world's diversity and especially the beauty of

the Indian subcontinent has been the fixation that led to the discovery of this business activity
that has a critical role in the global economy. Since then, it has become my ambition to work
as a critical player in this challenging industry of creative experiment, be an instrument in the
organisation's growth, realise my potential, and become an asset to the industry.
It is necessary to have a vital education and work experience base, especially with the fast-
growing rate of the hospitality industry. There is a scope of continuous growth and learning
through practical experience depending on personal capabilities and qualifications. Many
untouched areas can become a source of consistent growth with an early bird advantage.
Therefore, completing a master's degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from a
competent University of Plymouth becomes indispensable to undertake such an endeavour.
After completing early schooling, I had already become aware of the pathway I wished to
follow in the future. Choosing the Commerce stream with subjects like Accountancy,
Economics and Business Studies allowed gaining a perspective of the business world early
on. Afterwards, BBA in Hotel & Tourism management from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open
University, Gujarat, India, equipped with extensive knowledge and skills about food &
beverage, hotel operations and industry. Training programmes, vocational training, academic
tests and industrial training boosted a practical skillset in the core areas of this hospitality
industry.
With the first vocational training exposure from ITC Fortune Inn Promenade, Vadodara,
Gujarat, India, I had an excellent introduction to the practical side of things. It was great
exposure which provided clear guidance for understanding the working of the hotel industry.
Conversing with guests and providing them services underlined the new greed for learning
more every day, which increased self-confidence and paved the way for better opportunities.
Talking to the guest with confidence required excellent communication skills and following
all the standard operating procedures and protocols. I performed all tasks flawlessly, handling
buffets, stocking up the gigantic store, and keeping the place ready to make the various
Indian gravies.
Being selected to do IET from Taj Resort & Convention Centre, Goa was an indubitable
honour. The eagerness to learn about each operational department facilitated a very enriching
experience during the industrial training. The confidence, dedication, zeal, and aptitude
displayed over these six months soon translated into an offer to join the organisation's full-
time employee. Working with Taj, one of the world's biggest brands, has been a dream come
true, especially since the Goa region is one of the most happening places in India when it
comes to tourism.
After being assigned as a GSA in Food and Beverages service, with proper guidance and
practice, I performed the given duties and responsibilities meticulously. A constant need to
gain knowledge and up-skilling while handling different guest situations and complaints
during day-to-day operations proved an easy operation. Customer satisfaction ensured getting
featured multiple times by guests on online platforms like TripAdvisor and Google for the
quality of work and robust assistance. The praise from the management and reward of the Taj
STAR points was a humbling experience. Later, I got assigned as a butler for lady VVIP in-
house, an entirely new experience.
After handling day to day situations and honing the requisite skills as a profession, the thrill
of the hospitality career has not dulled but instead only intensified. The dreams and visions of
my future in the hospitality industry as a Hotel Manager need a strong formal managerial
educational foundation, and hence the decision to go in for MBA in Hotel & Tourism
management holds weight. I am looking for a program that can bestow excellent managerial
and organisational abilities and adequate leadership and decision-making skills. Exploring a
new country, learning new things and trying different cuisines will make for a dynamic and
evolving field like the hotel industry.
The United Kingdom is the first country that originated debating the question of the country
for such pursuits. Upon further research, the eminence of the educational system here is top-
notch, and there are numerous renowned universities in the country. Both these aspects attract
individuals from across the globe. Presently, I am interested in undertaking advanced studies
to diversify my professional portfolio. After checking the pros and cons of the possible and
viable option, University of Plymouth proved best suited for these particular interests.
The University boasts excellent QS world rankings along with a rich alumni list. Experienced
professors, state of the art learning facilities, a student-friendly environment and great
campus settings are some of the significant factors that influenced picking University of
Plymouth over other universities in the UK. The MBA in Hotel Management program offered
here focuses on meeting the rising demand for relevant professionals in this domain. The
coursework includes areas like human resources management, entrepreneurship and financial
planning to name a few, which I am interested in mastering in-depth. It will boost the
knowledge and skills to critically analyse, evaluate, and practically apply various techniques
to create and execute the perfect guest experience with the onset of the modern vacationing
context. Contemporary theories and concepts learned here will back identifying, targeting,
engaging and interacting with customers and clients.
It will be a delight to be a part of the University's culture and commit to a period of learning
and growing personally and professionally. I look forward to utilising the business principles
and leadership skills that I will cultivate throughout this programme to enhance the
functionality and efficiency of hospitality services in the future. It will be a thrilling and
thoroughly invigorating journey, and I am excited to begin this new chapter. For this purpose,
I present a candidature to the masters in the said course.
