PERSONAL STATEMENT

The business world has become rapidly integrated across all borders and anyone with high goals in the
business world must have an international perspective. It’s my ambition to establish myself firmly by gaining
strong industry acumen and hands-on skills. This explains my interest in applying for an MBA from your
esteemed University.
From a young age, I began to absorb many ideas and concepts related to business and management. My
parents managed a Telecommunication center which was known as a Business center back then in Nigeria. I
was always at the center when I got back from school and it was so fascinating to see the inflow of customers
come in to make both national and international calls to their loved ones. The customers were satisfied by
value we offered and we also made a lot of profits from the business. Unfortunately, the business wasn’t
sustained due to lack of proper management and strong business acumen.
I still maintained my love for business and the idea that money can be made from providing what consumers
need and getting satisfaction. During my University days, I engaged in a side hustle where I managed a Make-
up Artistry Business. It aimed at beautifying young ladies around the campus for several occasions. Apart from
the money made from that venture, customer satisfaction was great aim and for people to notice and
recognize my work. It was an experience full of learning back then.
After graduation, I resumed my professional journey by taking up a role as an Administrative Personnel at my
current work place. With my Five years’ experience on the job, I have developed my Interpersonal,
Organizational and Communication skills. I have gained experience in Accounting as well as Human resource. I
have successfully assisted the account departments in reconciling accounts, generating bills and receipts. I also
assist the HR department in recruitment process by sorting out CVs, administering recruitment assessment
and managing both clients and employees database. These experience instigated my interest in Business and
Management.
I believe I possess good leadership qualities and problem solving skills. However, I think I still lack necessary
business sense and managerial abilities to undertake concrete decision. Hence, my decision to go on a
professional journey to acquire a Master’s degree in Business Management from the prestigious University.
This way, I can have a learning exposure from reputable professors and outstanding facilities as well as gain
global perspective about management with diverse kinds of individuals.
The University has a comprehensive Curriculum that comprises all the topics of my interest such as; Human
Resource Management, Management Decision Making, Strategic Management, to name a few. These learning
modules largely focus on strengthening the foundation of management and developing analytical abilities and
problem solving skills within the students. In such a setting, I will be constantly exposed to skills and ideas that
will enable me develop into a professional with virtually unlimited potential.
