● Serious disruption of the functioning of a
community or a society involving
widespread human environmental losses
and impacts, which exceeds the ability and
security of the affected community to cope
using its own resources

● Lessening or limitation of adverse effects of
hazards and related disasters
3-Disaster Preparedness
● Includes knowledge and capabilities
needed by an institution and/or an individual
to anticipate and respond to and recover for
the impacts of the hazards

● Provision of services and assistance during
and immediately after a disaster

● Dangerous phenomenon, human activity or
condition
