AUTOMATIC BATCH DETERMINATION IN INVENTORY

MANAGEMENT (FEFO, FIFO, FIFO)

Concept:
The concept of batch determination on the basis of SLED is
primarily used in the industry with perishable goods
For example – food and beverage industry, Pharmaceutical
industries
It is vital for the company that stocks approaching their expiration
dates should be delivered first

1) DEFINE CONDITION TABLE

• We can create new or adopt it from the existing one


• In this case we have taken condition table as 024 for the field Material,
Movement type, Plant

2) DEFINE ACCESS SEQUENCE
We have created access sequence as ZM20 and maintained condition
table and field in it.

3) DEFINE SEARCH STRATEGY TYPES
We have copied from the standard search strategy ME01 and created YM01

4) DEFINE SEARCH PROCEDURE
We have created batch search procedure ZM0001 and in control data
maintained condition type YM01

5) ALLOCATE SEARCH PROCEDURE TO MOVEMENT TYPE AND CHECK

6) SET SHELF LIFE EXPIRATION DATE
Activate shelf life for the plant using check box and for movement type by
selecting Enter and Check option

If this is the first time that you will be using standard characteristics then
in Inventory management for your client then use T code BMSM to copy all the
standard characteristics.

1) CLASS
• We have created class ZBATCH1 and adopted standard
characteristics i.e. LOB_VFDAT (Expiration date shelf life) and
LOB_LWEDT (Date of last goods receipt)

2) MASTER DATA
• Created one material 12299 using T code MM01
• Maintain classification view by adding ZBATCH1 class
• In Purchasing view check the batch management check box
• Maintain minimum and total shelf life in storage view

3) SELECTION CLASS
• PATH: Central function – Batch management – Batch determination –
Selection class
• T code MBC1
• Created class as ZSELLCLASS and maintained characteristics as LOB_VFDAT,
LOB_RLZ and LOB_LFDAT

4) SORT RULES
• Created sort sequence FEFO2 (First Expire First Out)
• T code CU70
• Maintain characteristics LOB_LFDAT
• Check the sequence box for ascending or descending to maintain FIFO
and LIFO

5) SEARCH STRATEGY
• Maintain for the Plant and the Movement type
• Search type YM01
• Maintain Material 12299, Class (ZSELLCLASS) and Sort sequence FEFO2

6) GOODS RECEIPT
• T code MIGO
• Post the GR for the customized movement type for the SLED
• Enter the date of manufacturing in the batch tab in the item level
• It will automatically take batch number from classification

• T code BMBC
• In this we can have overview of material like expiration date, selection
result of batches, date of manufacturing, and date of goods receipt.

7) GOODS ISSUE
Goods will be issued based on the sort sequence which can be seen in
classification icon in the quantity tab
