TASK SUMMARY
For this task you are required to complete the activities to design and develop a range of
documents for Marino Enterprises using a number of different software applications.

INSTRUCTIONS:
As the Office Manager for Marino Enterprises, you are often asked to create business
documents for the company and its businesses.
Your manager has requested to meet with you to discuss some documents that have been
requested.
You will need to create these documents in line with Marino Enterprises’
Style Guide and the instructions from your manager.

1. You will now meet with your manager (role played by your assessor). They will provide
you with the instructions for the documents that you need to create.
During this meeting, your assessor will provide clarification on the document
requirements that are outlined in this assessment. You must actively participate in this
meeting, so be prepared with a copy of this assessment and make sure you have some
questions to ask about the documents you need to make.

Your assessor will give you details on when this meeting will be held.
In the meeting, you will need to confirm (take notes as required) the following:
 What application the documents need to be created in.
 By what date the documents need to be completed.
 Any specific layout or design features that need to be included.
 How the documents are to be named and saved (that is, file name conventions).
 Where you can get help if needed.

The Best Bite has updated their menu. They have requested a new menu be designed and
developed.
The new menu is as follows:

1. Create a new menu for the Best Bite.


You will need to type the menu details from the information provided above. You will need
to refer to the Style Guide in the Marino Enterprises Handbook.
Note: It is recommended you research menus and look for ones that are visually appealing
and interesting, yet are easy to read and follow.
The instructions you have been given are provided below:
 This document must be created in a desktop publishing application such as Microsoft
Publisher or Adobe InDesign.
 The Best Bite logo must be included. This can be found in the Marino Enterprises
Handbook in the Style Guide.
 You must use a range of features and functions available in the software, such as font,
font colour and size, paragraph formatting, bullets/numbering, page setup, graphics,
backgrounds, themes, and so on.
 You have complete creative freedom, but the menu must be formatted and presented
professionally as if it were to be used in a real café.
 The menu must be saved as per the requirements in the Style Guide.
 You must proofread the document for spelling and grammar errors and accuracy (with
the case study information) before submitting it.

Case study 2: Tranquillity
Marino Enterprises’ day spa, Tranquillity, are trialling some group fitness classes over the
next three months. They require a timetable that they can advertise in various locations.
The timetable information is as follows:
Monday and Wednesday
6.30am – Yoga (L) and Pilates (L)
8am – Let’s go for a 30-minute run! (F)

Marino Enterprises’ Payroll Officer has requested that you develop a new employee
timesheet – the last one has become corrupt.
Employees need to be able to record the following information:
 name
 position title
 department/business they work in
 their manager’s name
 date they worked and start and finish times (minus meal breaks).
The timesheet needs to calculate the actual hours worked per day and the
weekly total.

3. Create a timesheet for head office.

You will need to refer to the Style Guide in the Marino Enterprises Handbook.
Note: It is recommended you research how spreadsheets can be used for timesheets.
The instructions you have been given are provided below:
 This document must be created in a spreadsheet application, such as Microsoft Excel.
 The logo for Marino Enterprises must be included.
 You must use online help, a textbook or seek help from an ‘expert’ to find out how to
calculate the hours worked. You also need to include the instructions on how to do
these calculations in Sheet 2 of your spreadsheet – the instructions need to be in your
own words and include where you sourced this information.
 The timesheet must be easy to read and fit onto one A4 page when it is printed.
 All other formatting, naming and saving needs to be in line with the Style Guide.
 You must proofread the timesheet for errors, accuracy and consistency (with the case
study information) and ensure the formulas work before submitting it.

checklist that you created for The Best Bite. They have asked you to turn it into a training
presentation that they can use across the business.

Note: It is recommended you research some presentations to see how you can make them look
professional and engaging.
The instructions you have been given are provided below:
 This presentation must match the procedure you submitted for SITHIND001 Use hygienic
practices for hospitality service. The presentation must be written in your own words – use your
imagination!
 You must use a presentation application (such as Microsoft PowerPoint).
 The logo for Marino Enterprises must be included.
 Marino’s corporate colours must be used in the presentation – including in the theme or
template that you use.
 You must use a range of features and functions available in the software, such as font, font
colour and size, bullets/numbering, and so on.
 You must use slide transitions and animation, and also include at least two ClipArt or graphics
(remember copyright requirements when using images).
 Your presentation must have at least four slides (not including the title page/slide) and use three
different slide layouts.
 Use of a master slide is required.
 You have creative freedom, but the presentation must be formatted and presented
professionally as if it were to be used in a workplace to train employees.
 All other formatting, naming and saving needs to be in line with the Style Guide.
 You must proofread the presentation for errors, accuracy and consistency (with the case study
information) before submitting it.

3. When you have finished all your documents, you will need to submit your portfolio of work to
your assessor for approval.
You must submit a printed version and an electronic version of each file.
You are also required to submit a screen shot of the folder and file structure (the folder and sub
folders that you have saved your documents into.
You need to ensure that the documents meet the requirements outlined by your assessor in the
meeting, the dot points in the case studies and the Marino Enterprises’ Style Guide.
Please note: As part of this assessment it is also a requirement that you submit the portfolio in by
the due date. If you are not able to submit by the due date you must seek an extension from
your assessor.

It's always a good idea to save your work every ten minutes when working on a document
especially if it is a lengthy document. There is a quick way to do this using a 'shortcut. ‘Hold
down the CTRL key and click on the 'S' key

are in Word, Recover Unsaved Workbooks if you are in Excel or Recover Unsaved
