I. GENERAL
This SI describes a standard procedure to clean a well by the injection of specific liquid
though a macaroni string.
Snubbing unit rig up, rig down and job preparation procedures are detailed in SI. 04-
0510, 04-0520 and 04-0530.
II. PROCEDURE
- RIH the check valve just above the swab valve, close slips and snubs.
Test BPV’s at 3000 psi.
- Every 40 jts of macaroni, pump the internal volume of macaroni string to make sure
BPV’s are not plugged.
- Engage the check valve in the seal bore of the bottom hole equipment (SSD, nipple
…) and slack off 3000 lbs. on it.
- Close the BOP No. 1 and pressurise macaroni and annulus to check the sealing of
the check valve.
- Perform the tubing cleaning job as per programme (solvent, acid ….) with return to
burn pit. If the well is flowing naturally it is necessary to overcome the well shut in
pressure during the job to make sure the check valve is in closed position, so use a
choke on the return line.
- When return is clear of acid or solvent, pull out the macaroni to open the
legalisation device on check valve and wait for few minutes and POOH the
macaroni string.
