The topic for

2 statistics course, it only tackles Data Management

concepts and procedures. It highlights the use of
the normal distribution and regression analysis.

Lesson 1. Normal Distribution

Highlights

A. Describe a normal distribution.

- is a probability distribution that is symmetric about the mean, showing that
data near the mean are more frequent in occurrence than data far from the
mean.
FIRST QUARTER, SY2020-2021 GED 102 WEEK 8

B. State and explain the Empirical Rule.

- it is a shorthand used to remember percentage of values that lies within an
interval estimate in a normal distribution, often as 68%, 95%, and 99.7%.

C. State and explain the Central Limit Theorem

- The Central Limit Theorem states that the distribution of sample means
approximates a normal distribution as the sample size gets larger, regardless
of the population’s distribution.

Lesson 2. Regression and Correlation

Highlights
FIRST QUARTER, SY2020-2021 GED 102 WEEK 8

A. Correlation Analysis
1. What is Correlation Analysis?
- is a statistical method used to measure the strength of the linear relationship
between two variables and compute their association. In other words,
correlation analysis calculates the level of change I none variable due to the
change in the other.

2. How is correlation measured and how is the how interpreted?

- It is measured on a scale from +1 through 0 to -1, while indicating that
changes in one variable are associated with changes in the other variable.

B. Regression Analysis
1. What is Regression Analysis?
- Regression analysis is a powerful statistical method that allows you to
examine the relationship between two or more variables of interest.

2. What is a Least-Squares Line?

- it is the line that makes the vertical distance from the data points to the
regression line as small as possible. It’s also called a “least squares” because
the best line of fit is one that minimizes the variance.
