HVAC Duct System (Light Test)
1 PURPOSE

The purpose of method statement is to describe the method of testing HVAC Duct
System for air leak (light test) that will be performed in the scope of Holy Mary Women
& Children Hospital Project at Brgy. Balabag Pavia, Ilo-Ilo City. This statements made
shall be followed by Supervisors & Foremen without omissions.

3. Material Submittal
 Notifying QC engineer and issuing the RFI (request for inspection and approval) in
timely manner 24 hours in advance. The relevant reports are to be submitted to the
Engineer representative.
 Accompanying the Engineer’s representative for ongoing inspection and obtain his
approval to proceed with next activity.

All materials shall comply with contract specification requirements and approved
material submittals.

HVAC Duct System (Light Test)
 To be provided temporary earthing protection for duct;
 To provide the light – inside the duct, access door dampers can be used;
 Source of the light inside the duct – can be halogen lamp/ fog light with 500 Watts
with protection
 The lights inside the room where testing to be carried out shall be switched off at
the time of test.
 Scaffolding will be provided to access the ducts
 Total Darkness shall be maintained at test area during the test.
 Check at every joint – the light from outside shall not be visible.
 If any defects found, the point shall be marked and then rectified/ sealed after
finishing the test.
 After rectification, the test to be repeated;
 Test to be done for each section of the duct (supply & return duct);

6. Safety

1. Prior to commencement, all activities shall be coordinated with the project safety officer,
who will assess the associated risks if any, and monitor the implementation of the
project safety plan and liaise with the construction team to ensure a safe working
environment.

2. The safety officer in charge to ensure that all workers are equipped with their P.P.E
throughout the construction work.

3. The safety officer in charge to organize and conduct necessary periodic toolbox meetings
for supervisory staff and manpower, to ensure the construction team are well aware of
safety requirements.
