A credit card is a tool used to pay for goods and services. 27 In other words,
whenever you spend your credit card, you are borrowing money from the bank to pay for
your purchase.
A credit card is a substitute for cash and is often for short-term financing. You can
use it for daily spending. A credit card can offer you many benefits. It is safe to use a credit.
28 When your debit card is used by a thief, the money is missing from your account
instantly. It can take a while for the bank to investigate so that the bank can reverse the
fraudulent transactions and restore the money to your account. By contrast, when your
credit card is used fraudulently, you will not suffer losses. 29
Besides, when you spend with a credit card, you get to enjoy extra benefits
including cashback, rewards, discounts or promotions. Spending with a credit card can also
be good for your credit score as you need it when applying for loans and mortgages. 30.
With a credit card, you can split a huge lump sum payment into affordable
instalments over several months or years. This gives you time to repay the bank for your
purchase without being charged interest.
However, it is important to remember that you must pay for your purchase made
with the credit card within 30days promptly to avoid high interest. A credit card has high
interest rates. Some credit cards charge a staggering interest rate of 18%. 31.
Therefore, you should never take high interest rates and late payment fees for granted. If
