BSN3-SET1 LEARNING TASK WEEK9&10

Instructions: Read again the stories entitled "Magnificence" and "The Avocado Tree." Aside
from the Symbolisms presented in our lesson, identify an additional symbolism that each writer
used for their stories. Draw manually/digitally the symbolisms you identified and provide a
substantial explanation as to (1) how the authors were able to deliver the story's message
with the help of symbolisms and (2) their meaningful connection to you as a person. Be
creative and analytic!

SYMBOL NO 1. “THE AVOCADO TREE” EXPLANATION:

KNIFE A knife represents terrible intent towards

something in the story, and I think there is
no difference between it in real life. The
author used the knife to simply express the
tragic element of the story, in which the
father stabs his son to death with a knife.
This was the impact of the story's bad
aspect/situation. This ill-will against the
son resulted in a significant loss for the
family. It has shattered hopes, and it is also
a mistake to take one's own life.
For me, the knife symbolizes two
behaviors in my life: good and evil.
However, things in life conceal unpleasant
situations, and in the story, the knife was in
a dreadful situation. Apart from the story, I
think of a knife as a weapon to combat
negativity in life. Wherein it serves as a
weapon to fight and protect us against life's
difficulties. It also provides us with the
powerful energy we need to push away the
negative. As a result, do not pick the
terrible option in your life; instead, choose
the good one so that in the end you won’t

regret it.

SYMBOL NO 2. “MAGNIFICENCE” EXPLANATION:

DRESS The dress represents the feminine side of

humanity. It represents a woman or a girl.
The author was able to figure out the
story's conflict, which was the use of
feminism to who the guy and commit some
heinous acts. This really helped the author
in introducing the story's tension. For me,
the symbol of dress is also a symbol of
feminism. It identifies a woman or a girl.
But, in my opinion, feminism may also be
for men. Because we are connected to new
generations, LGBT+ people are an
example of people who can be feminism. I
have a lot of friends that are LGBT+, and
I've noticed that they use their feminism to
hide their insecurity and a lot of rage. They
have brought joy and happiness into my
life, and they have also maintained their
desires as they have exhibited feminism in
their lives.
