How social media helps language problem

Assalamualaikum wr. wb
Good morning, the honorable judges and all of the participants or delegations that gather in
this room. I'm here standing in front of you to deliver a speech about how social media solves
your language problem. But before that, please let me introduce myself. My name is Titanur
Istiqomah, and I'm a student of senior high school 1 Bangil.

When the pandemic came, I entered senior high school on social major. And I had culture
shock, there was a Japanese subject. Maybe you are wondering why there is a Japanese
subject in social major? The answer is, we have to study a subject from language and science
major, and I had Japanese and biology. Well, I don't have a problem with biology, because I
studied it in junior high school. And for Japanese? I have never learned Japanese before,
although I have watched Naruto before, but I have no idea of Japanese, and I was struggling
to learn because of online lessons.

I have to write hiragana aka japanese alphabet. And whenever I read Japanese sentences, I
feel like I'm illiterate. And I thought that I have to do something. Then I went to youtube and
I searched 'how to read and write hiragana alphabet' and i found a video and that helps me so
much. I practice writing and reading hiragana every single day. And that will always be my
unforgettable journey. And that's how social media helps me with language problems.

Ladies and gentleman,

So, if you don't know, Social media is a collective term for websites and applications that
focus on communication, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration. People use social
media to stay in touch and interact with friends, family and various communities. The
examples of social media are youtube, instagram, Whatsapp, Omegle, etc.

I'm sure that no one in this room has no social media, am I wrong? Through social media we
can know the newest news, hot gossip, or artist issues. For example, Maudy Ayunda got
married two weeks ago. And her husband is a korean oppa, and i know some kpop fangirls
might be jealous of that. And it is also known as national broken heart day for the guys. And
without social media. We will never know that news rapidly.

Based on the We Are Social report, the number of active social media users in Indonesia was
191 million people in January 2022. This number has increased by 12.35% compared to the
previous year which was 170 million people. Seeing the trend, the number of social media
users in Indonesia continues to increase every year. The number has increased again this year.

I take 2 social media for example, Omegle and ome tv that are trending on youtube lately,
Omegle or ome tv, which allows users to talk to strangers through anonymous video and chat
features. And of course, if you want to communicate with people overseas, you have to use
English, right? Because that is an international language.

Through chatting and talking with people, our language skill will improve day by day and
that's a very convenient way to learn and practice your language skill. And also you can
learn their first or their mother language. Then boom, you have a new skill. At this time,
learning English alone is not enough. And when you have another language skill besides
English, it will give you a lot of opportunities. You can study abroad, you can work abroad
and work for an overseas company in Indonesia or maybe you can work as a translator.

I think that's all from me, and last 'never stop learning because life never stop teaching' thank
you for your attention
Wassalamualaikum Wr. Wb.
