Part 1: The key to life program (VTV1 Channel)
Hoang: (MC) Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to The Key to Life
program. We have just seen a video reproducing the truth of many students today.
Obviously, the problem of social network addiction is making young people dependent
on phones. Recent survey results show that the average time Vietnamese youth use social
media in a day is 7 hours. Perhaps you, like me, are also wondering about the reason
behind this situation and what is the solution to it. Today The Key to Life program with
the participation of guest speaker Dang Hoang Giang, I am Kim Hoang the MC of the
program.
Hoang: Mr. Dang Hoang Giang. Where are you?
Hoang: Good afternoon Professor Mr. Dang, thank you for accepting the invitation to
participate in our program.
Thuong: (Mr. Dang Hoang Giang): Good afternoon, I am Dang Hoang Giang and author
of the book Good, Evil and Smartphones.
Hoang: Professor, may I ask you some questions?
Thuong: Of course. Please go ahead.
Hoang: Could you please let me and the audience know what the drawbacks of using
social media are?
Thuong: Excessive use of social media can reduce person-to-person interaction. It can
also distract us from our personal goals, make us constantly compare ourselves to others,
and increase our risk of depression. In addition, they may experience back and neck pain
from having to constantly bend over to look at the phone screen. Carpal tunnel syndrome
also causes pain and numbness in many fingers and hands.
Hoang: yeah professor, I think young people are abusing the use of social networks. How
can we solve this problem?
Thuong: In my opinion, the best way to alleviate social media addiction is to turn off
notifications. In addition, let's find our own hobby. Do any habit whether reading,
listening to music, doing yoga, painting… Please be a wise user to reap the benefits of
connected networks and don't let yourself be addicted to social networks and become
"slaves" of the chains of the technology age.
Hoang: Thank you very much Professor Mr. Giang for your presentation.
See you again on the soonest date.
