Rationale
The Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) is an activity engaging the youth to become
responsible citizens and advocates of Governments peace and development initiatives. It sees
their active involvement together with the other stakeholders to bring out a concerted effort
towards national peace and security (YLS Handbook Vo. I).
Facilitators Training will enable also to produce key leaders to become an organizer
of the different clusters that will conduct Provincial, Municipal and Barangay YLS.
Implementers are expected to have full knowledge on the approach of handling youth in both
white and red areas.
Effective facilitation and proper training for the YLS implementers is necessary to be
able to have a well-informed, responsive and responsible graduates as product of the
program.
3. GOAL
Produce holistic Youth Leaders that would facilitates every YLS leading to a progressive
youth platform for the future youth organization of every community that promotes long-lasting peace
and development.
Specific Objectives
Develop key leaders that would best facilitate the Youth Leadership Summit.
Provide proper trainings in handling youth in red and white areas.
Enhance leadership, facilitation, and empowerment skills of the implementers.
Develop facilitators self-confidence, teamwork and discipline.
Urge facilitators to create strategies, techniques and approaches in facilitating the YLS.
4. CONCEPT
Activity/Composition
Trainers Training for YLS Facilitator is a two (3)-day activity with series of lectures,
workshops, focused group discussion and practical exercise. The topic will be more on
facilitation, its approaches, situation briefing and other relevant discussions for equipping
youth and army implementers of YLS.

5. DELEGATIONS
Participants
1. POINTY Provincial and Municipal Clusters Youth Development Committee
Chairpersons
2. Exactly twenty (20) – ten (10) from Surigao del Sur and ten (10) from Agusan del
Sur.
3. Must be 18 to 30 years’ old
4. Must be with conditioned physique, good mental ability and stamina that could
withstand the nature of the training.
5. Individually, they should bring the following:
a. Casual Clothes good for 3 days
b. Sportswear good for 2 challenges
c. Rubber Shoes and Slippers
d. Eating Utensils
e. Beddings
f. Medicine Kits and Mosquito Repellants
g. Handkerchief
h. Toiletries
i. Registration forms
Team
1. All delegates will be grouped through countdowns from 1 to 4. Thus, 4 teams will be
created
2. Each team must consist of 5 youth leaders
3. Each team will be mentored by a POINTY Regional Leader
7. CONCLUSION
The objectives set in this training are attainable only if the political will and resources needed
are met and available. Furthermore, the success of this activity is greatly dependent on the support
provided by the AFP, local government officials of Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur province,
concerned NGOs and other stakeholders. This does not only mean financial and material support but
also by advocating strong positive values to the young leaders and becoming true models for them.
