I. GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE PROGRAM
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

As stipulated in DepEd Memorandum No.04, s.2022, the Department of Education has recently released the new guidelines and indicators for the
Implementation of the Results-Based Performance Management System- Philippine Professional Standards for teachers for School Year 2021-2022. One of the
objectives of Key Result Area (KRA) 3: Diversity of Learners, Curriculum and Planning, & Assessment and Reporting requires teachers to adapt and implement
learning programs that ensure relevance and responsiveness to the needs of all learners. In response to this call of DepEd, this project, PROJECT LEARN: Learners’
Writing Skills Enhancement Anchored on Basic Research Necessary for the acquisition of 21st Century Skills intends to create and implement a learning program
that caters to the educational needs of students who are attending the progressive face to face.

Project LEARN (Learners’ Writing Skills Enhancement Anchored on Basic Research Necessary for the acquisition of 21st Century Skills) will be administered
to Grade 10 students who are currently attending the progressive face to face of Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School during the 4 th Quarter Period
in their respective English classes. A Pre-test will be given to determine the research skills of the students before the implementation of the program. Students’
basic research writing skills will be measured using the rubric used in the study of Nurlaelah, et.al (2020). 0-3:Unskilled; 4-7: Less Skilled; 8-11: Skilled Enough and
12-15: Skilled. The Pre-test will serve as a guide for teachers of Grade 10 as to what competency in Basic Research Writing shall be given much emphasis.
Worksheets or drill sheets aligned to the Most Essential Learning Competencies of English 10 for 4 th quarter focusing on Basic Research will be distributed to
learners during the implementation of the program. At the end of the 4 th quarter, a post-test shall likewise be provided.

Goal
The main purpose of this learning program is to enhance the Grade 10 students’ writing skills on basic research vital for the acquisition of the 21 st century skills and as a
preparation for their other research courses in Senior High School

Objectives and Success Indicators


By the end of the learning program, learners shall be able to: At the end of the sessions:
1. To reinforce critical and analytical thinking among students by reading various
research studies. The research writing skills of the learners will be enhanced and developed
2. To strengthen students’ articulate communication skills through reasoning and compared from their current writing level.

Curriculum
Below are the topics anchored on the Most Essential Learning Competencies of Grade 10 English specified per week of the learning program:
WEEK 1: TECHNICAL TERMS USED IN RESEARCH
WEEK 2: TECHNICAL and OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS
WEEK 3: EXPANDED DEFINITIONS
WEEK 4: OBSERVING CORRECT GRAMMAR IN MAKING DEFINITIONS
WEEK 5: COMPOSE A RESEARCH REPORT ON A RELEVANT SOCIAL ISSUE

Evaluation

Proponents
The Grade 10 English teachers will facilitate the implementation of this learning program with the supervision of the Head Teacher of the English Department. The
program lead, on the other hand, will provide the materials for the Grade 10 students.
