Making the Business Communiction Mini Research aims to meet the 6
mandatory assignments that must be completed in the 6th semester students of the
academic year 2021. In addition, mini research is to provide insight into the details
about the book in question.
In making the mini research of the many drawbacks. Therefore, the authors
expect criticism and constructive suggestions for the improvement of mini research

CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Research

The word “Communication” has come from the Latin word “communis”, which


means common. Thus, communication signifies sharing of ideas in common. The
dictionary meaning of communication is to convey or exchange information and share
ideas. It is a process through which two or more persons transmit or exchange thoughts
and ideas among themselves. According to W. H. Newman and C. F.
Summer, “Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions by two
or more persons.”

Since long time ago, communication has been used to make it easier for humans
to interact with each other for various reasons. Usually communication is used in social
life, politics, education, business and so on. In the era of very rapid technological and
industrial developments, many people have opened up business opportunities both on a
micro and international scale. Communication in the business world is very necessary
for the effectiveness of business operations.

Business Communication refers to the communication relating to business


activity which means providing goods and services to the consumers with a view to
earning profit. It is a process through which information, facts, ideas, orders, advices,
decisions, etc. are conveyed, sent or exchanged between/among the persons associated
with business. Thus, Communication relating to trade, law, Finance, administration,
management, etc. of a business enterprise may be termed as ‘Business Communication’.

On a micro scale businesses can be started by teenagers even if they are still in
school. The thought of getting a profit, experience or channeling a hobby to start a
business at a young age. In my neighborhood, teenagers open online selling businesses
by offering goods such as clothing, electronic devices, learning equipment and so on.
Naturally or influenced by the environment, they can communicate well and simply to
attract potential buyers.
In this mini-research study, the author conducted an environmental study that
focused on how teenagers do business communication to sell goods online. This
research is useful for obtaining information on how students do promotions, offer goods
and make deals with buyers.

B. The Purpose of the Research

This study aims to obtain information on how adolescents carry out business
communication to sell goods online. Teens make promotions, offer and make deals with
buyers. It can be seen how effective the communication is made by teenagers to make
their small business run.
CHAPTER II

FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION

A. Findings

The research was conducted on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. The object of the
research was third grade high school students. Doing online sales by offering various
items such as clothing, electronic equipment, and others. She offers goods using social
media like facebook and whatsapp. Most of the buyers are school friends, neighbors,
families. Sometimes the buyer is someone else that is not known. Here are some parts of
the communication used.

Opening sentence:

 Hello friends! we have a whitening serum + vitamin C


 Good morning, today we have pretty clothes priced at only 65k.
 Hello guys, is there any interest in a 1 meter long charger? interest in chat yahh
 Guys, we have something new. . .

Offering goods:

 We have a whitening serum + vitamin C, so those who want can order it, the price is
40k, is it cheap or not? This is Bpom, friend! and guaranteed the item is original.
What are you waiting for, let's order!
 There is a new diary, the color is attractive, its shape is easy and it is easy to carry
everywhere, the cheap price is only 15k. Hurry up and get your diary book!

Making deals with buyers:

buyer: sis, order my item again


seller: screenshot the goods and the price so I don't get confused.
Buyer: Order two of these.
seller: okay, thank you for buying, don't forget to order again.
buyer: ok sis
B. Discussion

From the research above, it was found that teenagers made online sales using
social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp. The communication used is adjusted to a
language style that is more relaxed and comfortable because the dominant sales target is
peers of adolescents or other adolescents. When chatting with older people they will
adjust and convey sentences with more respect. However, that does not mean that they
do not respect their fellow adolescents, it's just that teenagers tend to like language
styles that are more comfortable according to them so that the communication
atmosphere is not too stiff.

In the opening sentence, the salesperson chooses a friendlier and simpler


sentence. In the section offering goods, the seller addresses the types, benefits and
advantages of goods as well as prices. The sentences chosen are shorter and clearer so
that prospective buyers will still be informed of the goods without wordying. In the part
of making a deal with the buyer, the seller uses simple words and still thanks the buyer.

In general, teenagers can carry out business communication on a small scale


through selling online. They are able to target buyers, suitable items for sale, offer
goods and make deals with buyers. Communication is used effectively to attract the
dominant attention of the target, namely fellow adolescents. With this, the
communication activities used can help run the business carried out by teenagers.
CHAPTER III

CONCLUSION

Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions or emotions by two or


more persons. Communication is very important in various fields of life such as social,
educational, political, business and others. One of them is business communication,
which is communication relating to business activities, which offers goods and services
to the consumers with a view to earning profit. Business communication can be carried
out by teenagers to offer goods by selling online via the Facebook and WhatsApp
platforms. The communication carried out by adolescents tends to be effective with a
language style that is simpler, simpler and more comfortable.
