CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES
FY MTECH Semester – II (2021-2022)
(Date: 2nd JULY 2022)
Location of Site: Kekarav Project (Bavdhan Hills) and
Chandani Chowk Junction Development Project

Introduction
The aim to go on construction site visit was to make us
aware of practical and field aspects of construction techniques.
The site named as “Kekarav Project” situated at Bavdhan
hills taken as a site for visit with the reason of having ongoing
work of pavement and retaining wall construction for land
development. The attempt was made to correlate theoretical
aspects of construction techniques and detailing of various
construction elements with the practical concept that is usually
applied on the field.

Second site visit on “Chandani Chowk Junction
Development Project” taken as a site for visit with the reason
of having ongoing work of retaining wall construction for

Highlights of Chandani Chowk Junction Development Project:

Fig.6 Chandani Chowk Junction Development Project

The much awaited project of the Chandni Chowk flyover was

recently launched by Hon. Minister for Road Transport & Highways
Shri. Nitin Gadkari. This western gateway into the city of Pune and
out of it is a crammed up mess of roads going all over the place. To
add to this, this is a point that connects Kothrud, one of the busiest
suburbs to outer areas like Bavdhan (extended Kothrud) and a new,

9
growing area of Bhugaon & Bhukum. This western gateway also
leads to Hinjewadi, the IT economic centre, and thus you can
imagine the state of traffic at this junction at peak hours. As if this
was not enough, the Chandni Chowk junction is located exactly at
the crest of hills, and slopes down in three directions – towards
Kothurd, towards Bhugaon and towards Pashan.

Highlights of Retaining wall:
