1. What is “COVID-19 Testing at Private Facilities”?

As approved by Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), COVID-19 test is now extended to private facilities on top of the existing designated government
medical centers. The services provided by the appointed private facilities are:
a. Walk-in testing
b. Drive-through testing
c. Home testing
d. On-site testing (case to case basis and usually coordinated by respective Operating Unit)
Please refer to this link on the list of private facilities.

2. What is “Special Medical Quarantine Leave (SMQL)”?

SMQL is provided for the eligible employee who is required to be on self-quarantine. Refer to KKM website for further details on quarantine requirement.

3. Do I need to perform COVID-19 test if I do not have symptoms?

Yes, COVID-19 test shall be performed by eligible employees and/or dependant regardless with or without symptoms.

4. Will the COVID-19 test cost at private facilities be part of my outpatient / hospitalization & surgery (H&S) entitlement limit?
Depending on the provision. Please refer to slide 2-4 for further details on the provision and scenarios .The COVID-19 test cost at private facilities may be
included in the employee outpatient limit for scenarios classified as Personal.

5. Where can I refer to on the definition of dependant?

Employees may refer on the definition of dependant as per the following:
a. Permanent – Refer to HR Policies & Guidelines, MyHRM intranet page.
b. Permanent Multinational – Refer to HR Policies & Guidelines, MyHRM intranet page.
c. Contract Direct Hire – Respective employees contract.
d. Contract Retiree – Respective employees’ contract.

6. The private hospital imposed for me to perform COVID-19 test in order to accompany my wife to labor room for delivery. Will the Company
cover the cost?
Yes, COVID-19 test imposed by private hospital as pre-requisite for admission is covered for the patient and accompanying dependant/employee
themselves . Cost deducted from employee’s Outpatient annual entitlement

7. Will the Company cover test cost if I perform the test at private facilities more than one time?
Yes , based on the eligibility criteria.

8. What are the definition Close Contact?

Close Contact are:
a. Health care associated exposure without appropriate PPE (including providing direct care for COVID-19 patients, working with healthcare
workers infected with COVID-19, visiting patients or staying in the same close environment of a COVID-19 patient)
b. Working together in close proximity or sharing the same classroom environment with a COVID-19 patient
c. Travelling together with COVID-19 patient in any kind of conveyance
d. Living in the same household as a COVID-19 patient

10. What types of COVID-19 tests does PETRONAS cover?

The recognized COVID-19 testing by Ministry of Health Malaysia and PETRONAS is RTK Antigen and RT-PCR.

11. What are the case definitions for COVID-19 ?

Definition shall be as per definition from Ministry of Health Malaysia. It shall be subjected to change from time to time. Based on Case Definition of
COVID-19 dated 30 August 2021, the definition are as follows:

Iii Confirmed Case of COVID-19
iv Person Under Surveillance
Definition
A. A person who meets the Clinical and Epidemiological criteria (refer table X)
B. A patient with severe acute respiratory illness:
SARI: acute respiratory infection with history of fever or measured fever of >38oC; and
cough; with onset within the last 10 days; and requires hospitalization.
A. A person (alive or dead) with a positive RTK-Ag.
B. A suspected case with chest imaging showing findings suggestive of COVID-19 disease
C. A patient who meets clinical criteria above AND is a contact of a probable or confirmed case or
linked to a COVID-19 cluster.
D. A person with recent onset of anosmia (loss of smell) or argeusia (loss of taste) in the absence of
any other identified cases.
E. Death, not otherwise explained, in an adult with respiratory distress preceding death AND was a
contact of a probable or confirmed case or linked to a COVID19 cluster (not relevant for this
guide)
A. A person with a positive RTK-Ag in pre-determined areas/locality with prevalence of COVID-19 >
10%3
B. A person (alive or dead) with a positive molecular test (RT-PCR or rapid molecular).
