A DEMONSTRATION TEACHING IN SCIENCE VI USING INQUIRY APPROACH

Regional Training on Pedagogical Retooling in Mathematics, Languages and Science(PRIMALS)

Brentwood, Baguio City
January 18, 2018
I.OBJECTIVES The learners demonstrate understanding on how
A. Content Standards: the major organs of the human body work together to
form organ system.

B. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to make a chart showing

healthful habits that promote proper functioning of
the muscular-skeletal, integumentary, digestive,
circulatory, excretory, respiratory, and nervous
system.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives: 1. Identify the three major parts /organs of the
circulatory system (heart, blood, blood vessels) and
give their functions.
2. Label a diagram that shows how each organ
/part of the circulatory system functions.
3. Explain how the organs/parts of circulatory
system work together.S6LTIIc-d-2
Values: Be obedient, cooperation
Skills: observing, communicating
II. CONTENT: Parts and Functions of Circulatory System
III. LEARNING RESOURCES The Human Respiratory Learning Guides
A. Reference Real Life Science 6, pp.120-125
Internet/lrmds
B. Other Learning Resources Activity Sheets, crayons, laptop
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new ENGAGE: Journal Log (IRF-Initial) and picture analysis
lesson
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the new
lesson

What do you see in the picture? Can

you name them? What are these things? Could you
describe each one? What is the colour of your blood? Do
you know how do blood flow through our body? What do
you think is carried in the blood?
Put your right hand on your left chest.
What do you feel? How does the heart beat? Do you know
how big is your heart?
Where is it located? How does your physical activity relate
with the heart beat?
Answer IRF-Journal (Initial only)
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new For your activity today, we are going to do the Station
skills #1 Rotation. Each group will be given 7 minutes to finish
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new each activity. (refer to workshhet#1-4).
skills #2 EXPLORE: Station Rotation
Activity 1-Blood Vessels
Activity 2-Circulatory Beats
Activity 3-Video Analysis
Activity 4-Label the Parts of the Circulatory System
F. Developing mastery EXPLAIN: Presentation of Findings
(Leads to Formative Assessment 3) I will call one representative from your group
members to present your findings. After which you
are going to answer the Circulatory Concept Map
individually. Write the main parts of the circulatory
system.
G. Finding practical applications of concepts and ELABORATE: How do the parts of the circulatory system
skills

I. Evaluating learning EVALUATE: Answer the formative assessment
SUCCESS CRITERIA: Evaluate the students through
learning by asking them to place a check mark in the
column of the face that represents level of their
confidence.
I. Evaluating activities for application or
remediation
V.REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who errand 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for
remediation who scored below 80%.
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation.
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT

A. Identify the three major parts /organs of the circulatory system.

1.________________-is the organ that pumps blood all the time to all parts of our body.
2._______________ -are tubes that carry blood to all parts of our body.
3. _______________-is the red liquid that flows through the body. It carries oxygen, digested food and nutrients to all
parts of the body.

B. Label the diagram below. Explain how the organs/parts of the circulatory system work together.

Let’s Do It

A Life Size Model of a the Human Circulatory System

1. You will be grouped into four.

2. Each group will receive two pieces of manila paper, pens and crayons.
3. One learner will lay down on the manila paper while the other learner traces around his body.
4. Work together to draw the different parts of the circulatory system.
5. Label your life size model of human circulatory system.
6. Display your drawing on the wall.
7. Assign someone to explain how the organ/parts of the circulatory system work together.
