COMMUNITY SERVICE

DESCRIPTION:
Doing volunteer work is more than just earning the credits for the conclusion of the
semester. Therefore, after observing the impacts that the pandemic has brought to education -
especially in the Brazilian public school system - the students decided to continue the "Nuvem
do Bem" project, this time targeting children whose education was affected during the
pandemic.

In order to make this aid effective, two support materials will be created about Portuguese and
basic Math that will contain explanations about the subject, exercises, games, an exclusive area
for parents and other features; in this way we will try to mitigate the educational delay caused by
the 2 years of the pandemic.

GOALS:
1. Helping others: with community service we can help people in a precarious situation
and/or going through problems and try to do our part to improve the country in which we
live.

2. Contribute to our society: by exercising community service we learn a lot about the
society in which we live in, since we are witnessing different lifestyles. Thus, with this
knowledge, we can focus on current objectives that seem important and immediate to
help our society and thereby do our part as a citizen.

3. Mitigating the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on people's lives: The pandemic
has negatively affected the lives of many Brazilians, consequently there has been a gap
in education, especially public education. Therefore, we will change the focus of our
community service a bit and as our new main goal, we will help children who did not
have the opportunity to have classes during the almost 2 years of the pandemic.

4. Collect donations to help the needy: we will collect monetary donations and then turn
them into food baskets that will be donated to institutions that will directly help the
needy. Part of the donations will be invested in the production of our theory/activity
books, which will also be dedicated to children.

MILESTONES:
1. Delivery of the didactic materials to the schools: After the completion of the creation,
layout and correction of the teaching materials, the printing and binding of them will be
carried out using the monetary collections to pay for them. Once all this is done, the
materials will be delivered to the students of the public schools.

2. Donations: The money raised will be converted into printed materials of Portuguese,
English and mathematics to be delivered to public school students who have been
impacted in education by the pandemic. The remaining money will be used for donations
to institutions that directly help those in need.

STRUCTURE:
The project will be divided into three phases:

- First phase - PORTUGUESE ( 04/04/2022 to 05/03/2022).


- During this phase the Portuguese material will be produced in such a way that at the end
it will contain at least 20 exercises (not including subtopics - ex: letter a, b, c) and cover
all the proposed sub-subjects, which are:
- Text interpretation(G1), noun, adjective and verb (G2), grammar (spelling and
accentuation) (G3)
- Second phase - MATH (05/04/2022 to 06/07/2022)
- A minimum of 30 Math exercises should be produced (not counting the subtopics; a,b,c).
The exercises produced should cover:
- Addition (2+2=4) - G1
- Subtraction (5-2=3) - G1
- Multiplication (2 x 3=6) - G3
- Division (6:2=3) - G3
- Basic geometry (geometric shapes) - G2

Observation:

- Remember that the material should be explained in the simplest way possible, as an
introduction only!

- Also, whenever the exercises are ready, they should be sent to the revisers, and as
soon as the problems are solved, they should be sent to the designers (you should NOT
send everything at once to the revisers or to the designers, but during the whole process
of creation!)
- The final delivery of the exercises and the theoretical part is for April 21 and May 24, but
the deliveries should be distributed throughout the process and should be done weekly,
the final delivery being considered only the last possible day for delivery of one or
another text/exercises.
- The designers are free to decide the book design.

- Third Phase - DONATIONS (13/06/2022 to 06/25/2022)


- Donations should be directed to:
- Books, notebooks, school supplies, money and snacks for the children
- All groups must participate in the fundraising.
- The goal should be to help 100 children.
- Fourth Stage - DELIVERIES/FINALIZATION (06/27/01 to 07/01/2022)
- The books and donations will be delivered by the High School students to the partner
institutions.
