or the month using a calendar. Answer the activity below to deepen

more your knowledge on solving problems involving time.

Let us solve the problem above which involve time. In solving a word

problem there are steps to be considered.

Problem 1

Step 1: What is asked in the problem?

Answer:Time that the game ended.

Step 2: What are the given facts?

Answer: 1:00 o’ clock, 2 hours and 30 minutes

Step 3: What operation to use?

Answer: Addition

Step 4: Write you solution

1:00 PM- time started

+ 2:30 PM- the time the game lasted

3:30 PM- is the time the game finish

Step 5: Write the final answer.

Answer: The game ended for 3 hours and 30 minutes or 3:30 PM.

Problem 2

Step 1: What is asked in the problem?

Answer: The number of months did Sean and Fayah stay in the

province.

Step 2: What are the given facts?

Answer: 2 years

Step 3: What operation to use?

Answer: Addition

Step 4: Solve

Remember that 1 year =12 months

So, 12 months + 12 months= 24 months

Therefore, there are 24 months in 2 years.

Answer: Sean and Fayah stayed in the province for 24 months.
