This module is a project of the Curriculum Implementation Division particularly


the Learning Resource Management and Development Unit, Department of
Education, Schools Division Office of Ifugao which is in response to the
implementation of the K-12 Curriculum.
This Learning Material is a property of the Department of Education-CID,
Schools Division Office of Ifugao. It aims to improve students’ performance specially
in Science.

This module will focus on observable characteristics of solid


materials. It contains exercises on classifying solid materials according to
taste.
In this module you will learn the observable characteristics of solid
materials and you will be guided on how to group these solid materials
according to taste, hence prior knowledge in identifying taste of foods or
solid materials is important.
For the Facilitator:
As the facilitator of this module, be patient and understanding in helping
the pupils to accomplish this module. Provide simple and clear instructions
on how to go about the activities and encourage the learner to finish this
module. By the way, do not forget to remind the learner to use separate

What Is It

Solid materials can be classified according to taste. There are four


classifications of taste.
They are the following:
1. Sweet. It is a pleasant taste having the characteristics of sugar
and honey.
2. Sour. It is an acid taste like lemon and vinegar.
3. Salty. It is a taste like salt or containing lot of salt.
4. Bitter. It is characterized by pungent taste or smell.

Examples:
