1.0 Introduction

This report is prepared by Design Cell as part of the structural analysis and the design of Spinal Injuries Hospital at
Shanga Bhanjang Kavre, Nepal. This report describes the method of structural analysis and its findings, design procedures
and follow up of standards.

2.0 Scope of work

The scope of the work is to produce working level drawings through structural analysis, design and detailing of various
elements present in the building structure as per the standards.

3.0 Working Methodology

i. Structural system selection through Eliminating different types of vulnerability in building to make the systems as
simple as possible , distributing the stiffness of lateral force resisting members like columns as per expected
loading .
ii. Load calculation for static by classifying load class as per building occupancy and service condition at various
location .These load includes all possible loads like dead load , imposed load ,live load as per the standards
iii. Deriving seismic load in terms of building type, probable site hazards, structural performance and the selected
material of construction .This also includes the preferable approach of seismic analysis like
Linear static(Seismic Coefficient Method) .

iv. Generating input data for structural analysis; modeling in computer for 3D analysis .The adopted software in the
analysis is SAP2000.
v. Data interpretation:
vi. Design, and detailing of all structural elements ( foundation, beams columns, slabs etc) as per the standards. All
design have been based on LIMIT STATE method .Design for flexure and serviceability limit state has been
satisfied to all critical elements as per IS standards.(IS 456-1978/2000). Ductility has been considered in the
structural elements as specified by the IS code.
vii. Production of working level structural drawings
