Touch Accommodations
Touch accommodations can be used to determine how the iPad responds
to our gestures. This feature will change how the iPad responds to touch.
There are several options for students who may have trouble with using
the touch screen. This feature allows you to change how long you have to
touch a screen before it recognizes your touch. If you have a tendency to
touch the screen more than once you will be able to turn on a feature that
allows multiple touches to register as only one touch.
How to use Touch
Accommodations
Instructions
Touch the settings app.
Under settings touch
accessibility.
On the right side touch the
touch accommodations
option located under the
physical and motor section.
Touch the slider for touch
accommodations to turn
on the feature and any of the
other options in the category
that may be of assistance to
you.
Guided Access
Guided access allows you to use only one app at a time. When you use
this setting it allows you to choose which features are available to use.
This is a good feature for those who get easily distracted.
How to use Guided Access
Instructions
Touch the settings
button.
Touch the
accessibility option.
On the right side,
under general (at the
bottom of the screen)
touch guided access.
Touch the slider to turn
on the feature.
Zoom
Zoom is a feature on the iPad that allows you to magnify the text that appears on
your screen. With this feature you are able to bring up a magnifying box on the
screen and it will magnify the area of the screen that it is placed on. With this
feature you are able to magnify a small portion of the screen or the whole screen.
There are different settings that allow you to choose a filter, zoom out, use a
controller and resize the magnifying lens. This is a good feature for those who are
visually impaired.
How to use the Zoom Feature
Instructions
Touch the settings app.
Touch accessibility.
On the right side of the
screen, under the vision
category at the top, touch the
zoom option.
Touch the zoom button to
turn the feature on.
Text Size
To help see text better iPad allows you to adjust the text size and make it larger. This
feature makes it easier to read material on the iPad. Along with text size, you are able
to also choose if you want the text to be bold for easier viewing. This is a good
feature for those who are visually impaired.
How to Adjust Text Size
Instructions
Touch the settings app.
Touch accessibility.
To the right, touch the display
& text size option located in
the top section under the vision
category.
Touch any of the sliders located
at the top of the display & text
size menu to adjust the text
size.

Spoken Word
Spoken Word is a great feature for individuals who have low
vision or who may be blind. When turned on this allows the iPad
to read aloud what is on the page for the user. The iPad offers
you many different voices to choose from and you can also set a
speaking rate for how fast or slow you want the audio read back
to you.
How to use Spoken Word
Instructions
Touch the settings app.
Touch the accessibility
option.
To the right of the screen
touch spoken content
located at the top of the
screen under the vision
category.
Turn on the speak
selection slider. Underneath
you will find other options for
voices, and speaking rate.
