Grammar
Play miming game
(40ms)
- Ask the student to work in pairs
-Allow the student a few moments to think about their mimes
- Invite the first pairs to come in front of the class and miming the working
place for the others in the class to guess
- Continue until all the pairs have done their mimes
Lead-in
- Ask children if they can remember what happened in the story.
- Close the book and ask children which everyday activities were mentioned
in the story
1 Listen to the story again and repeat. Act.
- Ask children to turn to the story on page 8 of their Class Books. They check
how well they remember about the story
- Play the recording, pausing for children to repeat.
- Divide the class into groups of three to play the parts of Rosy, Tim and
Miss Jones
- Ask children to look at the different actions that the people do. As a class,
decide on the actions for the story (see suggestions below).
- Children practise acting out the story. Monitor the activity, checking for
correct pronunciation.
- Ask some of the groups to come to the front of the class to act out the story

- Ask the student to look at each picture in “Let’s learn” box and ask children
what they can see.
- Read the sentences again, if possible point to real items in your classroom to
reinforce the meaning. Indicate some tables that are close to you to
demonstrate the meaning of “these” and some further away to demonstrate
those. Then do the same with this and that.
- Write the sentences and questions on the board. Read them again, miming
the actions and expressions in the pictures to reinforce meaning. Let student
repeat again
- Rub out the last word in each sentence and replace with the flashcards to
elicit the sentences with the same patterns. E.g: This is a new class room. That
is a new pencil. These are new pegs. Those are new computers.
- Ask the children to repeat the sentences.
- Invite the children to change the words to make new sentences
Play ppt games: This-that-these-those
3 Write.
- Ask the class to look at the pictures and identify the school things in each
one.
-Focus attention on the first sentence and ask which word is missing. Elicit
the full sentence and write it on board
- Ask children to look at the rest of the sentences and write the missing words.
Monitor if necessary.
- Go through the answer. Point to the pictures for children to say the sentences
in chorus.
4 Point and say
- Ask a child to read the words in word pool for the class.
- Focus attention on the complete sentence in the speech bubbles. Ask a
different child to read for the class
-Ask the students to work in pairs. They take turns to ask and answer the
questions about the people in Ex3
- Help with the pronunciation and model words and phrases where necessary
