I. Title of the Activity: READING AT EVERY HOME (REH)

II. Venue: Lalakay Elementary School

III. Objective of the Activity: This activity is intended to develop the reading ability

of the pupils inside their homes with the help of their parents/guardians.

V. Highlight/Summary of the Activity:

Reading at Every Home (REH) is a reading project that will address the needs of the learners specifically in
literacy . The school head coordinates with the School English Coordinator, Mrs. Michelle N. Calalo to oversee
on the said project. He handed her the action plan to study and to think of the best way they should do for
the program to materialize. No hesitations nor doubts the challenge was accepted by the teachers. She called
the attention of the primary teachers especially Kinder to Grade Two teachers. She mentioned that the need
to learn in reading is more necessitate for the said
Grade levels.
The use of “Developing Reading Power “ is one of the options that the teachers suggested but came to
realize that there were words that could not simply understood by the pupils especially those who are non-
readers. The coordinator proposed to rephrase the selections for better understanding. A pre and posttest will

be administered before the daily reading exercise. Fifteen selections will be given to the pupils in such, one
selection is good for two days reading and questions right away will be answered.
We believe in our mantra, “Batang Lalakay, taglay ay husay!” Pupils will be”mahusay” if reading is a
basic skill. The teachers and principal will do their best to achieve and to serve quality education no matter
how hard because of our present situation.
