Content Standard/s: Demonstrate an understanding on the rules and


equipments in volleyball.

Performance Standard/s: The learner performs basic skills in playing volleyball


with awareness.

D. demonstrate awareness on possible health risk in playing; and

E. execute basic skills in playing volleyball games.

III. LEARNING CONTENT

1. ACE - A serve that is not passable and results immediately in a point.

2. APPROACH - Fast stride toward the net by a Spiker before he/she


jumps in the air.

3. ASSIST - Passing or setting the ball to a teammate who attacks the


ball for a kill. This stat is normally only logged for high school, college,
and National/Olympic team play.

4. ATTACK - The offensive action of hitting the ball. The attempt by one
team to terminate the play by hitting the ball to the floor on the
opponent's side.

5. ATTACK ERROR - An unsuccessful attack that does one of the


following:

a.) The ball lands out of bounds,

b.) The ball goes into the net and terminates play or goes into
the net on the third hit,

c.) The ball is blocked by the opposition for a point or sideout,

d.) the attacker is called for a centerline violation, or

e.) The attacker is called for illegal contact (lift, double hit...) on
the attack.
6. BLOCK - A defensive play by one or more players meant to deflect
a spiked ball back to the hitter’s court. It may be a combination of
one, two or three players jumping in front of the opposing spiker and
contacting the spiked ball with the hands.

7. BUMP - a common term for forearm passing.

8. CENTER LINE - The boundary that runs directly under the net and
divides the court into two equal halves.

9. DIG - Passing a spiked or rapidly hit ball. Slang for the art of passing
an attacked ball close to the floor.

10. DINK - A legal push of the ball around or over blockers.

11. FOUL - A violation of the rules.

12. MINTONETTE - The original name of the game of volleyball, created


by William Morgan.

13. SET - The tactical skill in which a ball is directed to a point where a
player can spike it into the opponent's court.

14. SPIKE - Also hit or attack. A ball contacted with force by a player on
the offensive team who intends to terminate the ball on the
opponent's floor or off the opponent's blocker.

15. UNDERHAND SERVE - a serve in which the ball is given a slight under-
hand toss from about waist high and then struck with the opposite
closed fist in an "underhand pitching" motion.

IV. LEARNING PROCEDURE

A. PRAYER

C. WARM-UP ACTIVITY

Teacher: Okay class before we formally start our lesson, let’s


have a warm-up activity entitled “Simon Says”.

Instruction: Once I say “Simon Says” with corresponding activity,


you just need to perform the activity. Are you ready?!

Students: Yessss Sir!

Teacher: Okay let’s start! Simon Says…

 “bend over and touch your toes”


 “jump up and down”
 “run in a circle”
 “move your arms in circles”
 “receive the volleyball”
 “show me how to spike the volleyball”
 “set the volleyball”

(Students are expected to perform the activity lively and cooperatively)

D. PRE- ASSESSMENT

Teacher: May I have your attention now.

Instruction: Examine the following pictures and write an essay


about your understanding of the pictures.
Teacher: You are given five (5) minutes to finish the
assessment. Send your answer on the chat box. You can
start…now!

E. LESSON PROPER

1. Discuss the history and equipment of volleyball through


power point presentation via Zoom.

2. Present replicas of volleyball equipment. (for those who


have a volleyball equipment on their respective houses
are instructed to discover and use it)

3. Present handouts that contains basic skills in playing


volleyball.

4. Assess the skills of the students upon demonstration of the


basic skills in playing volleyball.

5. Make sure that everybody is actively participating and let


students who are knowledgeable in playing volleyball as a
leader in order not to discriminate and no one will be left
behind.

V. GENERALIZATION

1. Let the students create their own quotation about volleyball.

2. The quotation must be explained and consists their


understanding on volleyball

3. Answers will be sent on the Chat box. .

VI. EVALUATION
To test the understanding of the learners, the teacher will give them a
crossword puzzle about volleyball.
VII. ASSIGNMENT

The class will be given a week long to create a demonstration video in


performing the following:

1. Basic skills in volleyball;


2. Must wear PE attire;
3. Accompanied by music; and
4. The video must have at least a length 5 minutes.
5. Video will be sent in the Class Official Group Chat.
