(iii) State basic skills and techniques in soccer.
(iv) State basic skills and techniques in volleyball

Teaching Procedure:
Introduction: The teacher introduces the topic by asking the students to explain briefly the
history of soccer and Volleyball
Step 1: The teacher guides the students in explaining the history of soccer and volleyball
Step 2: The teacher guides the students in stating and giving the full meaning of the sport
ancronyms
Step 3: The teacher guides the students in discussing the discription of soccer and volleyball
Step 4: The teacher guides the students in displaying various skills and techniques in soccer and
volleyball.
Step 5: The teacher demonstrates the skills and techniques in soccer and volleyball
Step 6: The teacher with the aid of the video clip documentary explain the skills and techniques
of Soccer and volleyball
Step 7: The teacher entertains questions from the students and he answers them appropriately.
Step 8: The teacher writes the summary of the lesson on the board for the students to copy.
Summary:
HISTORY OF SOCCER
Soccer or football started in the 19th century in Britain, the world game is controlled by an
international body known as (FIFA) Federation of Internationale Football association, with it
headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. The sport was introduced by the colonial power, Britain. And
the first match in Nigeria was played in 1904.
The African top soccer competition is the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and its the most
popular played sport in Nigeria.
DISCRIPTION OF SOCCER BALL
1 The ball is round in shape
2. it's cover with leather and inflated
BASIC SKILL AND TECHNIQUES IN SOCCER BALL
1 Dribbling- running with the ball at your feet.
2 Goal keeping- stopping the ball with the hands which can only be done by the goal keeper.
3 Heading- it involves heading the ball with top or fore head.
4 kicking- it involves kicking the ball on a sleeping mode eg corner kick, a goal kick, free kick and
penalty kick.
5- volleying- kicking the ball before it make contact with the ground.
VOLLEYBALL
Volleyball was invented in 1895 by William G.Morgan in the United States of America, It's a team
sport played for both recreation and by professionals.
DISCRIPTION OF VOLLEYBALL
1 It is spherical ball filled with air
2 it is made up of different leathers materials
3 it is usually light and has a similar size to soccer ball
BASIC SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES IN VOLLEYBALL
1 serving- A player serves the ball by hitting it in high pass.
2 Blocking- it is a crucial components of defense.
3 Spiking- it is done by smashing the ball over the net on to the floor in the oppents half of the
court.
4 Setting- it is done by slamming the ball over the net
5 Setting- it is known as fore arm passing
Evaluation; The lesson will be evaluated by asking the students to;

Mention 2 discription of volley ball

Conclusion; The teacher conclude by giving a recap of the lesson, mark students note books and make corrections
where necessary.
