VALUE AND PERSONALITY PERSONALITY AND YOUR PROFESSION Would you rather have a quiet dinner with a few friends or What is one of your party with 100 greatest friends? achievements? CHAPTER V: WORK When you’re balancing multiple projects, how do you keep yourself organized?
As a college student, especially an
education student, having a lot of projects, sometimes with almost the same deadline, is unavoidable. I think one of the most challenging tasks as a college student is to be able to have great time management at anything. This is the key that I always use to survive every semester without any problems. Ever since I was an elementary student I carry an extra notebook which I always named “My Schedule Notebook”. At the back of that notebook, I am always listing the given projects and their deadlines. I make sure that I am listing them in order, from the nearest deadline to the farthest one. While the entire page of that notebook is being used every day because I am always writing what I have to do for the whole day. I always write the tasks that I needed to accomplish for a day. When you’re balancing multiple projects, how do you keep yourself organized?
For example, if tomorrow is Tuesday,
today is Monday, I will be writing at night in that notebook, the tasks that I will be doing for Tuesday. I am always planning ahead of the day. I also do this TIME BLOCKING system per task, depending on its difficulty. I am assigning a certain amount of time. If it is an easy task, I make sure I will finish it in one sitting. If it is a hard task, I allot 1 hour and 30 minutes to do that every day, until I finished it. I also avoid doing tasks when the deadline is near. I always count and check my calendar regarding the deadlines I should meet. I am always making sure too, that I start working on a certain project, 2 or 3 weeks before the given deadline. Additionally, I created my own bulletin board in front of my study table. On that bulletin board, I have a calendar, the schedule When you’re balancing multiple projects, how do you keep yourself organized?
of my subjects and sticky notes posted. My
calendar has different colored sticky notes that I used for marking the important dates. Aside from the list in my schedule notebook, I also put marks on my calendar just to keep myself being reminded and avoid forgetting any dates. While the sticky notes on my bulletin board are being used for the activities, projects, assignments, and other tasks per subject. One sticky note per subject and I paste those in front of me and every time I finish one task under that subject, I put a checkmark on it. That is another way of seeing how far I already progressed. Those are the things that I am always doing and checking every day to keep myself organized when balancing multiple projects. I never crammed in my entire life because honestly, I hate it. I do not like being filled up with too many tasks. If I can do it now, I make When you’re balancing multiple projects, how do you keep yourself organized?
sure that I will do it now. For me, time is very
important. I should be wise on how to use it. If I know that I have a lot of things to do, I never put myself on a long rest. An hour or less break was already good for me. It is very hard to do a lot of projects when the deadline is already around the corner. When we rush things, the quality of the output is declining. To survive, I push myself to be organized and make sure that I never forget to manage my time purposively. Studying is hard and I think studying became harder because of procrastination. If you can do things for a day, if you are going to make sure you progress your work a day, studying will remain hard and will no longer go harder, much worst, hardest. Bravely, I will always say NO to PROCRASTINATION and CRAMMING! CHAPTER VI: WORK ETHICS How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
When I have a lot of things in mind in
addition to a lot of things to do and accomplish, I cannot help but feel the pressure and stress. Things like, “what if I was not able to finish all of these?” came to my mind, but I am not letting myself be drowned in those thoughts. Whenever I am already feeling that I am stress, I stay quiet for a while. I sing sometimes and sometimes, just calmly listening to music. Especially, I am listening to motivational songs like “Today My Life Begins” by Bruno Mars, “Break Free”, and “Fight Song”. When I feel like I am being suffocated inside my study room, I go out for a while to rest, then I will come back and start moving again.
At night, when the day became so hard,
I pray and surrender my worries to God. There are times that my cure for stress and pressure How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
is not really working, like singing, listening to
motivational songs, drinking coffee, or going out for a while. Whenever that happens, I surrender what I am feeling to God, and the next day when I wake up, I feel lighter like the day did not become hard yesterday.
I think I have no certain method of
dealing with stress. It always changes every time depending on the situation. One thing is for sure, I am always setting my mind that I should never lose with stress. That I should cope with it and deal with it. I am keeping myself as optimistic as I could because I know stress will not stay with me forever.
Stress is a silent battle for everyone,
including the pressure too. That is why I set my mind that if I have to be in battles along my How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?
way, then I should be at the wounded warrior,
not the fallen ones. I can accept being wounded and defeated, at least I can stand again, rest, and then join the battle again while trying to win again, unlike the situation if I became the fallen one, this simply means I give up, which I will never do.
I may not have a fixed process of
dealing with pressure and stressful situations, but I know that these things are something that should be defeated and eliminated every time it appears. That I just have to be myself and believe in myself that whatever it is and no matter how hard it is, I can get through it, because I am already halfway there. CHAPTER VII: VALUE AND PERSONALITY Would you rather have a quiet dinner with a few friends or a party with 100 friends? I am a type of person who is not a party- goer. In reality, I do much love being a homebody, staying at home, and being with my family. So if I am going to choose, I rather have a quiet dinner with a few friends and let me state the reasons why.
First, I really don’t have a lot of friends. A
few but high-quality friends only. I may be talking comfortably with a lot of people, but not all of them are my friends. When I started to grow older, I realized I should be hitting quality over quantity. These few friends are one of the people whom I treasure the most. Having a quiet dinner with them, I think, will make us both happy. Simple yet we can talk about a lot of things. Just us again, like what we did when we were still high school students. We really love that, happiness in silence. Would you rather have a quiet dinner with a few friends or a party with 100 friends? Second, having a party with 100 friends may be fun because it’s loud and there are many people, yet the question is, will it be deep? It is unlike a quiet dinner, in which you can really talk about a lot of things with a high level of comfortability.
Aside from that, all of us cannot take
being surrounded by a lot of people with whom we cannot be our real selves.
What I am trying to say is that I have a
different point of view when it comes to happiness. It is not about how loud your laughter can be and it is not about how many people you can see. Happiness is already about simplicity. About being fulfilled over simple, little things. About feeling great in silence. About seeing few yet real people. Happiness is Would you rather have a quiet dinner with a few friends or a party with 100 friends?
already about the antonym of the definition, I
know when I was elementary.
Everything hits different now. The
thirst I have, then, for parties, is something I really do not want to do now. Rather, I started loving staying with a few friends in simple setups, wearing simple clothes, and eating simple foods. All of those things, for me, are worth treasuring and repeating for. Maybe because, I am an adult now, not a kid anymore, that I define things and view things differently the way I used to define and view them to be. CHAPTER VIII: PERSONALITY AND YOUR PROFESSION What is one of your greatest achievements?
One of my greatest achievements, as of
now, is none other than being a member of my family. It is a privilege for me to belong to a family that is not rich when it comes to money, but rich when it comes to love and care. It is an achievement for me because it is something that I can brag about and be proud of. It is something that I achieved with a blessing from God. I never work for it, yet when I opened my eyes to belong in the world on January 16, 2002, suddenly I already belong to this family who foster pure love and stand as my leader and back up in my battles, reaching my dreams.
They are my achievement because they
are my driving force in living within my dreams so that I can turn them into reality. They are the reason why I want to achieve other things. What is one of your greatest achievements?
They are my inspiration and my source of
strength. They are a great achievement that does not have any monetary value yet was gold and something I will cherish forever.
Having them is more than the feeling of
winning a lottery or having tons of gold medals and millions of certificates. I have no specific tangible thing I have that can represent this achievement but none other than presenting myself. Because I was from this family, I was a fruit of this family, the only trophy that I can display when they ask for proof of this great achievement is myself and now, I am still working and in the process of becoming and molding myself so that this trophy will best fit the definition of my family.
Every single day I was grateful and will
What is one of your greatest achievements?
Be forever grateful that God rewarded me with
this achievement when I still cannot do anything but cry. That He gave me a blessing when I was not able to achieve anything. When He gave me this family for free, as my first treasure when the first day I breathe as a person.
Now, it’s my time to prove that I am
worth for receiving this intangible, great, wonderful, undefined expensiveness, pure, loving, caring, savior, more than of gold and long-lasting achievement. VALUES EDUCATION FINAL REQUIREMENT
