1. Department of Public The Department of Public Works and Highways (Filipino:
Works and Highways Kagawaran ng mga Pagawain at Lansangang Bayan),
abbreviated as DPWH, is the executive department of
the Philippine government solely vested with the
Mandate to “be the State's engineering and construction
arm” and, as such, it is “tasked to carry out the policy” of
the State to “maintain an engineering and construction
arm and continuously develop its technology, for the
purposes of ensuring the safety of all infrastructure
facilities and securing for all public works and highways
the highest efficiency and the most appropriate quality in
construction” and shall be responsible for “(t)he planning,
design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure
facilities, especially national highways, flood control and
water resources development systems, and other public
works in accordance with national development
objectives,” provided that, the exercise of which “shall be
decentralized to the fullest extent feasible. It has an

2. Department of Human The Department of Human Settlements and Urban
Settlements and Urban Development (Filipino: Kagawaran ng Pananahanang
Development Pantao at Pagpapaunlad ng Kalunsuran), abbreviated as
DHSUD, is the executive department of the Philippine
government responsible for the management of housing
and related development in the Philippines.[2] The
department is led by the Secretary of Human Settlements
and Urban Development, as appointed by the President
of the Philippines and confirmed by the Commission on
Appointments. The secretary would be assisted by three
Undersecretaries and three Assistant Secretaries, that
would be appointed by the President upon the
recommendation of the Secretary. It has an annual

3. Department of Education The Department of Education (abbreviated as DepEd;
Filipino: Kagawaran ng Edukasyon) is the executive
department of the Philippine government responsible for

the quality of basic education.[4] It is the main agency
tasked to manage and govern the Philippine system of
basic education. It is the chief formulator of Philippine
education policy and responsible for the Philippine
primary and secondary school systems. It has an annual

4. Department of the Interior The Department of the Interior and Local Government

government capability aimed towards the effective

5. Department of National The Department of National Defense (DND; Filipino:
Defense Kagawaran ng Tanggulang Pambansa, KTP) is the
executive department of the Philippine government
responsible for guarding against external and internal
threats to peace and security in the country. The
Department of National Defense exercises executive
supervision over the Armed Forces of the Philippines
(AFP), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), the Philippine
Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), the National Defense
College of the Philippines (NDCP), the Government
Arsenal (GA), and Veterans Memorial Medical Center
(VMMC). It is also responsible for disaster preparation
and management in the country.
It is headed by the Secretary of National Defense, who is
