Activity Report

VI. Work Immersion Tasks

1. Weekly Accomplishment Narrative Report

February 7th, 2022, we started our work immersion program by meeting with Ms.
Ailene De Leon via google meet, in which she walked us through the scheduled flow of
our work immersion, and she also briefed us regarding the basic etiquettes that we must
adhere throughout the work immersion program.

February 10th, 2022, we had our first meeting with our work immersion adviser
Ms. Evangeline Sarona and she discussed the basics and importance of having knowledge
regarding resume writing, filing of application forms, acquiring basic local identification
documents, and developing basic skills for job interviews.

February 15th, 2022, we had our second meeting with our work immersion
adviser Ms. Evangeline Sarona, along with her work immersion partners. The meeting
was headed by Mr. Joevannie Lumagas, in which he discussed some basic knowledge
that are related into the program of our choice which is Engineering. He gave us an in-
depth perspective regarding the different types of engineering courses, along with its
duties and responsibilities.

February 16th, 2022, we had our meeting with Mr. Christian Fruto, in which he
discussed the four outputs that we will be required to accomplish on the given time frame
throughout the work immersion program. After the discussion and in compliance with the
requirement of Output # 1, we were immediately grouped according to the program of
our choice (Engineering, IT, and Architecture). On my case, I was grouped with the
engineering department and our group head gave us our parts, which were mainly about
assessing different universities with the use of SWOT analysis method.

February 17, 2022 - The day was allotted for the completion of our output 1,
since the prescribed deadline for the reporting and written output was due by February
18th.

February 18, 2022 - There was a conflict in schedule due to the career
assessment seminar which led to the cancellation of our meeting for the reporting of
output 1. The seminar audience was the Grade 12 graduating students of Universal
Colleges of Paranaque, in which it discussed various career opportunities across different
professional fields.

February 19, 2022 - Due to the inconvenience, we were advised by Mr. Christian
Fruto to create a pre-recorded discussion about our output 1 along with the written report
until February 22nd, 2022. Our group had redirected the distribution of workloads in
which all of us were tasked to create and upload an individual presentation about the
university that we were assigned to, which will then be compiled by the assigned editor.
Apart from this, I was also assigned along with other two members as the writer for the
group written report that was anchored within the university that we researched and
analyzed. We then managed to accomplish all the required tasks for output 1 within the
span of 3 days.

February 23, 2022 – I allotted my day into making my resume, in which I

followed the prescribed format and guidelines that Ms. Evangeline Sarona has given us.

February 24, 2022 – I started doing the other individual requirements that are
assigned to us, specifically the output # 4 which is focused on sourcing companies that
are in the construction industry. There are many information that are needed to be
supplied that’s why it took me almost 2 days to finish the whole paper.

February 26, 2022 – After accomplishing the output # 4, I then proceeded into
completing the Output # 2 which is mainly about assessing our experiences and acquired
knowledge from output # 1 in a form of a reflection paper.

February 27, 2022 – The output # 3 was the last requirement and it is mainly
about writing an admission essay on our preferred academic institution for college.
Personally, I didn’t encounter any problems in terms of writing my essay since I’ve
already done extensive research about the institution and its offered programs.

2. Work Immersion Reflection (Problems Encountered and Insights)

From my observation, there are minimal problems that occurred throughout the work
immersion program. To get into detail, one of the main issues were the lack of student
participation on the start of the immersion, in which despite the announcements, there are still
some students who have not complied with the requirement of answering a google form
survey that aims to assess each student’s chosen course program. Due to this, the meeting was
delayed by 2 days, prior to its original schedule, which was 8th of February. Apart from this,
there were also a conflict in schedule last February 18th, in which the career assessment
seminar have lasted the whole day, therefore prompting our work immersion adviser to
cancel the meeting for the presentation of output 1 that was originally scheduled by 3pm.

In terms of the group task, considering that our department have a total of 13 members
and each of us must create a video presentation on the university that we are assigned to, the
main problem that we encountered was mostly on the uploading and editing of our
presentation. Due to some external factors, some of our members have uploaded their video
on the last day of submission which makes the editing process heavily time constrained.
Despite this, our department still managed to pull through and submit on time due to the
overall participation of each member.

With all the experiences and knowledge that we gather throughout the work immersion
program, I can definitely say that it helped us develop some skills that would benefit and help
us on the real and multifaceted environment. Apart from this, it also gave us a new
perspective and outlook that we could uphold in committing choices for our future academic
and professional endeavor.
