Well, as two members (at this time) have done, I'm sending my proposal

to the list for comment. As it is, the strength of the proposal was

it's weakness. John, if I may, I would like to include one of the

comments you sent in your response, and also thank whichever Kargatane

gave this comment. Thanks.

"...to be specific, one of us commented that you took a standard

succubus scenario and really ran with it."

And now my proposal...

Arehla (pronounced "Arr-Ehh-La") is a succubus that entered Ravenloft

on purpose, after hearing about the possibilities within the Domains of

Dread (or setting of DMs choice), caring little for the blood wars of

the lower planes. She is primarily interested in stealing young mens

hearts (literally), and loves fine jewerly and other material

possessions. She can be persuaded away from her current victim by

gifts of great wealth and personal affection. Unfortunately for this

would-be rescuer, he replaces her previous victim. She has little

interest in other females, and does feel that they are rivals. Dealing

with female rivals, Arehla will perfer to publically disgrace the

rival, and then taunt her into suicide. When Arehla is done with her

victim, she will convince him to make preparations to leave his home

(under the explanation that he is moving away to pursue opportunities

elsewhere). Once away from a settlement, she will dispense with her

victim taking his heart, and summoning wolves or other local predatory

animals to clean up the remains.

The Adventure

The heroes recieve a message from a close friend, or relative in which

they learn that he is to be wed to an incredible woman. They are

invited to the wedding which will take place in a city of the DMs

choosing. The heroes should find their friend's fiance very

attractive, and she has a tendancy to flirt, especially if the hero

appears wealthy, or interesting. Everything should seem normal until

the day of the wedding, in which they will recieve a letter (either

left at the place they are staying, or handed by a delivery person)

from someone they have never met. The letter will explain that there

is vital information that they need to know concerning their friends

finance. He will request if they could meet him (at a place and time

of the DMs choosing). Unfortunately when they arrive at the designated

location, he is found with a look of terror on his face, and the front

of his clothing drenched in blood. On closer inspection (if the PCs

can manage it), his heart is nowhere to be found.

This should convince the heros that something is amiss with their

friend's fiance. It will become a race for time to try to find and

save their friend.

This person had been tracking Arehla throughout her travels, and knows

of her true nature, though not her true name. He hasn't had the

opportunity or ability to deal Arehla a permanent blow, and he doesn't

want to give himself away. He's running short of time, and he's afraid

that she knows of his plans, which is why he is acting now, hoping the

heroes may be better equipped to deal with Arehla.
