IV. PROCEDURES
A. REVIEW
1. With the game “Pass the cabbage” the learners would be able to review with the
properties of light.

Sun- main source of light

Optics- study of light and how it interacts with the different objects
Refraction- bending of light
Reflection – bouncing back of light
Absorption- taking in of light
Transmission- passing of light through some materials

B. MOTIVATION
1. Present the different materials
 Book
 Clear plastics
 Plastic cups
 Eye glasses
 Flashlight
 Tinted window
 Tissue
 Colored papers
 Coin
 Plastic chair
 Colored balloon

C. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR THE LESSON

Strategy: STOP and INVESTIGATE
The class will be divided in two groups. They will be assigned in a station wherein they will
stop and investigate. The learners will use the flashlights and let the light pass through the
different materials. The learners should be able to identify if the materials let the light pass
through, partial light pass through and no light pass through. After 2 minutes the learners will
go to another station. They should record their findings and answer the questions that follow.

Material/Object The light pass Little light pass No light pass

through through through

1. What are the materials that let the light pass through?
2. What are the materials that let little light pass through?
3. What are the materials that no light pass through?
4. What has been created by the materials that do not let light pass through?
5. Generalization
There are materials that
________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________.

D. DISCUSSING CONCEPTS
Based on their findings, ask the questions;
1. What are the materials that let the light pass through?
Discuss Transparent materials
2. What are the materials that let little light pass through?
Discuss translucent materials.
3. What are the materials that no light pass through?
Discuss opaque materials and the shadow.

E. DEVELOPING MASTERY (LEAD TO FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT)

1. Let them give more examples of transparent materials, translucent materials and opaque
materials. ()

E. FINDING PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS AND SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING.

1. Do a TRAVELOGUE!
Tour them around the school campus and let them write the materials that they can see.
Let them group the materials according to the transmission of lights. They can do it
creatively.

F. MAKING GENERALIZATION AND ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT THE LESSON

1. What are the different materials that transmit light? Differentiate each.

G. EVALUATING LEARNING
1. Let them access the evaluation through blooket.com
Note: Give the code to the learners who have an access to the internet and a printed
evaluation form those who do not have access to the internet.
