Advantage of Nuclear Family:

(1) Development of Personality:
Nuclear family plays an important role in the development of personality of individuals. Children are
more close to the parents and can have more free and frank discussion about their problems with
parents which helps for the better development of their personality.

(2) Peace and Harmony:

Peace and harmony are very much essential for a pleasant family life. In nuclear families there is no
misunderstanding and they enjoy a harmonious atmosphere by living together

Disadvantages
(1) Insecurity of Children:
In nuclear family both husband and wife adopt profession outside the family, then children are
neglected and looked after by the servants. They feel lonely and emotional insecure. They develop more
anxiety

7. Discuss the psychosocial and effects of marriage breakdown and or divorce?

A family is like all living things; it grows, develops and constantly evolves over time as the family
structure changes.
Divorce is the ending of a marriage.
Children are often the most affected by a separation or divorce. The breakup of the parental unit brings
with it many changes. Changes may be physical – the literal separation of each parent to different places
of residences – as well as emotional
A separation or divorce can also affect the extended family of a marriage. In some cases, the
family members of each spouse may feel like they have to take sides. This may be difficult, confusing
and may also adversely affect the children too.

recognized as an important source of support and security. They can provide safe and stable
environments which nurture the growth and development of each member throughout the different
stages of life, from birth to old age.
ASPECTS OF FAMILY
*POSITIVE- Nuclear Family
*NEGATIVE- Extended Family

ASPECTS OF MARRIAGE
*POSITIVE- Monogamy
*NEGATIVE- Polygamy, Fraternal Polyandry, Polyandry and Polygyny and Levirate Marriage

9. How does levirate marriage of wife inherittance affect the health of women?

Marriage with a brother's widow was normally forbidden among the Jews (Leviticus 18:16;
10:21), except for the case of yibbum. The advantage to the brother who agreed to marry his sister-in-
law was that he would be the sole benefactor of his brother's estate instead of splitting it with the
family. The disadvantage would be that if the levirate union resulted in male issue, the child would be
named after the deceased brother and considered to be his offspring.

10.How does the psychosocial and physical effects of eary/ arrange marriage on the young woman?

Arranged marriage is a type of marriage which is arranged by parents or some elderly members
of the family. It is more in the nature of a marriage between the families and not individuals. The entire
process of marriage is decided by the parents and the elders of the family.

Disadvantages:
(1) There is excessive expenditure and financial burden on the parents because they spend a lot
to keep up their prestige.
(2) Dowry systems at times may lead to misunderstanding which may give rise to bitter
consequences such as torture and bride burning in case of arranged marriage.
(3) It is difficult to adjust between the couple as they are not sufficiently aware of each other’s
attitude and temperament.
