DEMOGRAPHICS
Tago is located in the central part of Surigao del Sur facing the Pacific Ocean. It lies between 126
degrees 12 minutes longitude and 9 degrees minutes north latitude. It is bounded on the north by the
Capital Town of Tandag, on the north-west by Municipality of Lanuza, on the west by Municipality of
San Miguel, on the southeast by the Municipality of Bayabas and on the south by the Municipalities of
Cagwait and Marihatag. Tago sits on a 343.52 km² of land which is about 7.55% of the total area of
Surigao del Sur. In terms of area, Barangay Cabangahan is the largest with 20% of Tago’s land area while
Barangay Purisima is the smallest with 1.51%. Roughly 50% of Tago’s land area is relatively flat terrain
(0-3%) while roughly 30%, mostly in the north-western portion, are steep mountains. Generally, Tago
falls under the normal climate with rainy season occurring from November to March and dry season from
April to October. The hottest months are July and August. The planting season usually takes place in
November to late January. Tago is politically subdivided into 24 barangays namely Alba, Anahao Bag-o,
Anahao
Daan,Badong,Bajao,Bangsud,Cabangahan,Cagdapao,Camagong,Carasan,Cayale,Dayoan,Gamut,Jubang,
Kinabigtasan,Layog,Lindoy,Mercedes,Purisima(Poblacion),
Sumo-sumo,Umbay, Unaban, Unidos and Victoria. The population of Tago grew from 21,346 in 1960 to
35,329 in 2015, an increase of 13,983 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth
rate of 0.74%, or an increase of 1,336 people, from the previous population of 33,993 in 2010.
Tago, officially the Municipality of Tago (Surigaonon: Lungsod nan Tago; Tagalog: Bayan ng
Tago), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2015
census, it has a population of 35,329 people.

Due to the scale and severity of the COVID-19 outbreak, national emergency has been
declared by the President thereby putting the entire country into State of General Community
Quarantine altering the societal norms of lifestyle in various sectors like transportation,
business, and most especially in education. Public health is given priority over education thus
overhauling the mechanism of nation’s educational system. Along with challenge to improve
the quality of learning, the need to adopt and adjust to the prevalent pandemic milieu has
never been this relatively high and urgent considering that the cure for this disease is still out
of reach. It is of this light that the Department of Education instructed every school, in
tandem with its Local Government Units (LGUs), to formulate Contingency Plan for Covid -
19 incorporated with the Basic Education- Learning Continuity Plan to roll-out effective
ways and efficient means of delivering basic education even this pandemic. In response to
this call, Unidos Elementary School School Contingency Plan for COVID-19 and similar
pandemics aims to provide timely and well-coordinated response mechanisms in the
occurrence of pandemics, thus, protect lives of learners, school personnel ,parents and ensure
the continuity of learning amidst disaster.
I-OBJECTIVES
This Contingency Plan aims to:
1. Aligned with the Harmonized National Contingency Plan for the CoVID-19 Pandemic of
the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC);
2. Established proper coordination and communication mechanisms among concern
agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective, efficient, timely communication and
linkages;
3. Determined the immediate roles and functions required in the event of pandemics;
4. Accounted all resources, be it manpower, learner’s necessary aid;
5. Provided immediate services to affected learner and personnel and;
6. Ensured continuity of learning.

This includes triggers situations when CP will be terminated or be removed of its
effectivity will be based on the declaration of the Municipal IATF, depending on the
nature of the hazard/event, the CP may be maintained as a “Continuing Plan” or a plan
that can still be utilized for future use in case the same hazard/event will occur or if it is
normalcy of the situation, transition to early recovery and demobilization of response
activities.
