ASSESSMENT

I. Give an operational definition of Human Development.

Human development is defined as the process of enlarging people's

freedoms and opportunities and improving their well-being. Human
development is about the real freedom ordinary people have to decide who
to be, what to do, and how to live. The human development concept was
developed. Human development indicates the growth of an individual from
childbirth to its end, it can either be biological, cognitive, or socio-emotional
progress

II. Differentiate traditional and life-span approaches to development.

The difference between traditional and life-span approaches to

development is traditional approach believed that an individual cease its
development when he reaches adulthood, on the other hand life-span
approaches people believe that people will continue to develop even when
they get older the same as they were a child.
III. Put a ✔ before a correct statement and an ✘ before a wrong one. If you put ✘,
explain why. Write your explanation below the statement.

✔ 1. Development is a pattern of change.

✘ 2. Development is either growth or decline

Growth and decline are both aspects of development; one cannot exist without
the other. This is so that we don't necessarily improve as we grow physically, mentally,
or socially. The statement as we grow, our thinking somewhat slows, but we also get
fresh insights and knowledge is used in a curriculum to make this point.

✘ 3. From both traditional and lifespan perspectives, development

is lifelong.

Development is ongoing from a lifecycle viewpoint. Nevertheless,

based on the traditional belief, development is substantial from birth
through adolescence, but there is little to no change in adulthood and a
decline in function in late old age.

✔ 4. In the development process, these are things that hold to all

people.

✘ 5. Individuals develop uniformly.

Individuals do not develop in the same way. There may be

common developmental patterns among various people, but there will
always be things that are unique to each individual.
✔ 6. Development is predictable because it follows an orderly
process.

✘ 7. Development is unidimensional.
Development is multidimensional
✘ 8. Development takes place in a vacuum.
Because development takes place upon your surrounding like people,
environment, culture.

✘ 9. The effect of biological process on development is isolated from the effect

of cognitive and socioemotional processes.

The development includes contextual, biological, cognitive, and societal

processes. These settings interact with one another in order to construct a person's
developmental process, therefore they are not distinct from one another
